How to unlock new weapons in Helldivers 2

Finish operations to get Medals that can be spent on reward passes (called Warbonds) to get new weapons in Helldivers 2. You can pick between the free Helldivers Mobilise one and the paid Steeled Veterans Warbond. Higher-tier weapons are locked behind higher levels of Warbond progression. You can find these in the Acquisitions Centre.

Helldivers 2 players start with the AR-23 Liberator assault rifle, P-2 Peacemaker pistol, and G-12 High Explosive grenade. These are fairly competent, especially in the first sector with Terminid foes. But against the lethal Automatons, you’ll find yourself needing more firepower. The powerful guns are hidden behind the higher tiers of the free and paid Warbonds in the Acquisitions Centre. Play more missions to get Medals and unlock each tier by spending more Medals. This means that you simply cannot hoard Medals for the best weapons in the game.

How many guns are in Helldivers 2

There are a total of 29 primary weapons, 8 secondary weapons, and 10 grenades in Helldivers 2. This accounts for everything in Helldivers 2’s launch but expect more to arrive with content updates. Weapons can cost between 5 to 80 Medals.

Pick weapons that are appropriate for the situation. For instance, flame weapons are great against bugs while armor-piercing rounds help with robots.

Can you upgrade weapons in Helldivers 2

You cannot upgrade weapons in the game. There’s no attachment system here to let you tinker with scopes, stocks, and ammo like in Call of Duty. I prefer this route because it keeps weapons distinct instead of blurring into a mix of guns that function similarly without an identity. Remember that picking an item and performing an exfil will not grant it to you for future missions. You’ll have to unlock it from the Warbonds.
