There are no classes in Helldivers 2. Instead, the game opts for deeper customization when it comes to gear and armor. You can customize your character in the Armory inside the Destroyer, which is your ship. 

While this might seem like it would be hard to categorize players, armor can still be one of three categories. In addition to armor, stratagems, and weapons also influence combat and gameplay. Let’s take a look at these in detail.

Think of stratagems as powerful abilities that you can summon during a mission. These are unlocked by finishing missions and obtaining samples. Upgrades improve their effects even further. Stratagems include supply drops, orbital attacks, deployable defenses, and more. This does not rely on classes in Helldivers 2.

From gatling turrets to machine guns and orbital bombardments, Helldivers 2 lets you dish out damage in a variety of ways. Weapons are divided into Primary, Secondary, and Grenades. You can unlock better equipment as you spend more time in-game. This lets players fit specific roles that aren’t restricted by the traditional class system in most team-based games.
