Helldivers 2 has crossplay support, letting you play with friends on both PC and PS5. Xbox support isn’t in the cards, especially since the game is published by Sony. While just enabling crossplay will let you team up with randoms, here’s how you can play with buddies on another platform in Helldivers 2 to take down bugs and robots:
- Ensure that you have crossplay enabled in the Options menu under the Gameplay section.
- Now head to the Social menu and find the Friend Code. This eight-digit code can be shared with friends to receive friend invites.
- Ask your friends to head to the search bar at the Social menu and enter this code to send a friend request to you. Once you accept their invite via the in-game friend code system, they can join your squad easily next time. In the following image, you can spot a PlayStation player next to PC ones.
Does Helldivers 2 support cross-progression
No, the game does not support cross-progression or cross-save functionality. When it comes to joining friendly squads, a crossplay bug makes deliberate teamwork harder to accomplish. It forces the Arrowhead community to place their bets on an open lobby having good teammates.
While developer Arrowhead Game Studios has indicated that they are working on a fix for this issue, it has not been fixed yet. A post from Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard on the official Discord server noted that “it’s being worked on continuously.” Here are some things you can try to fix the crossplay friend request bug:
- Try canceling the previous friend request and sending a new one. This might fix the problem.
- Switch crossplay off and on in the Gameplay tab. After this, try adding a friend from another platform.
- You can also try joining a specific mission lobby at the same time but you won’t always end up with your friends. To use this workaround, pick the same difficulty and then look to join the same mission type on a planet. The host can kick random players who enter these lobbies.
- Recheck your internet connection and VPN to see if it’s an issue on your end.
