Does Helldivers 2 have split screen multiplayer?
At the time of writing, Helldivers 2 has no support for split screen multiplayer. The only way to play with friends is by doing so online, creating a party and inviting your friends to play with you.
It’s not a massive surprise, given that the vast majority of titles like Helldivers 2 have moved fully away from local co-op, instead focusing entirely on online play. However, it is a little disappointing, as having the option to play split screen co-op would be a welcome one, especially for households that share a console.
Will Helldivers 2 get split screen multiplayer in the future?
There has been no official announcement of plans for split screen support in the future, and we reckon that it’s highly unlikely that it will ever come. Split screen is simply not a major priority when it comes to modern shooters, and developers Arrowhead Game Studios are likely to see prioritising online play as a much better investment of time and money.
That being said, there is no reason why a split screen mode couldn’t be added in the future. If there are enough calls for one to be added, there is always the possibility of it coming to the game further down the line, though we still think that you shouldn’t keep your hopes up.
