How to Choose your Landing Spot in Fortnite

How to Gear Up

When you have nothing, you should pick up everything that you see, because it could be useful in some way. However, as you start to loot more areas, you’ll need to be more picky, and only carry the most useful items.

The weapons that you go for will depend on your personal playstyle and preferences. However, as a general guide, it’s a good idea to have at least one ranged weapon, a close-range weapon and some form of healing. You should also opt for the rarest weapons you find, as these do more damage.

At this stage, you should also stock up on some basic building materials. It’s a good idea to have at least 500 materials at all times, but ideally, you want a lot more than this.

How to Move Through the Map

Once you’ve looted the area around your landing spot, it’s time to move to the safe area of the map, to avoid the eye of the storm, and find more gear. 

When you move through the map, it’s crucial that you do so in a sensible way. The last thing that you want to happen is to be taken out by a sniper from 300 meters away after you just found your favourite weapon.

So as you travel, make sure to never be out in the open for too long, and move your camera 360 degrees to make sure no one’s on your tail. It’s also a good idea to cover your tracks by closing any doors that you may open along the way.

Keep travelling to the safe zone as it closes in good time, and you shouldn’t be taken out by the storm at any point.

How to Beat other Players in Fortnite

Of course, as you move through the map, you’re almost guaranteed to come across other players, who you will need to take out to win Fortnite. 

Killing another player is a lot easier said than done, but one of the best things to do is master basic building strategies. By building, you will create a physical barrier of protection and can gain tactical advantages over your opponent, by taking the high ground, for instance. 

It’s also important to remain calm when you engage another player. Instead of unloading all of your precious ammo when you’re not even in range, take your time to build a defence, armour up and pick your shots wisely. Don’t just focus on the player you’re fighting either, as there’s a good chance other players will hear you and want a piece of the action. 

After successfully taking a player out, it’s extremely important to loot their gear, taking anything that’s better than your current load out, as this will help you take out other players who are similarly stacked.

Keep repeating this process, taking out all the players that you see and upgrading your gear, and eventually, only you and one other player will be alive. From here, you’ll have no other option than engaging in a one-on-one battle, and if you come out on top, you will win a Fortnite match.
