The Fighter vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 has access to the best swords. Throughout the game, you’re going to encounter plenty of these while you explore, though most of them can also be purchased from merchants.
What are the best swords in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
As you’d expect from a game in which high-fantasy is at its core, there’s so many swords found throughout Vermund and Battahl. As part of our Dragon’s Dogma 2 tips, we’ve recommended that you explore as much as possible. This is exactly how you will find the best swords and maces.
The best early-game sword is the Vermundian Brand
You will find the Vermundian Brand in Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth, for 13,800 Gold. It has a base strength of 140, and Slash of 100. With a knockdown of 140, and a weight of 2.4, this sword gives you a good shot at dealing big amounts of damage, and fast.
- Strength: 140
- Magick: 0
- Slash: 100
- Knockdown: 140
- Weight: 2.4kg
In terms of upgrades, you’re going to want to focus on Battahli. While it’s hard to get this done, we would recommend sprinting through the Sphinx riddles and riding her all the way to the Frontier Shrine. From here, you can run to Bakbattahl without facing too many enemies. Place a Portcrystal here, and you will be able to upgrade weapons with Battahli style.
The best mid-game sword is the Silver Cinquedea
After you reach Battahl, you might want to buy the Silver Cinquedea. It’s available from Awaran’s Arms in Bakbattahl for the dear price of 39,200, though at this point in the game you should have amassed a decent amount of Gold.
- Strength: 235
- Magick: 0
- Slash: 100
- Knockdown: 212
- Weight: 3.47kg
You should definitely upgrade this weapon in Battahli style, though you’re going to need to have slain a Dullahan to do this.
The best sword in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Dragon’s Dogma
Was the game named after the sword or was the sword named after the game? The Dragon’s Dogma returns as the series’ best sword, available only in the end-game long after you’ve defeated the final boss.
- Strength: 352
- Magick: 0
- Slash: 100
- Knockdown: 300
- Weight: 4kg
The Dragon’s Dogma sword is capable of massive damage output with constant flurries of staggering thanks to its 300 Knockdown.
It’s only available after you unlock the Dragonforge, as are the best greatswords and daggers too. It’s recommended that you unlock and buy most of the Dragonforge weapons after you complete the game, letting you go into New Game Plus with the selection of the game’s most powerful weapons.

Should you use a mace or a sword in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Choosing between a mace or a sword depends on the playstyle you’re looking to adopt – a mace is generally a more aggressive weapon with greater stagger potential, whereas a sword is a little more refined with better defensive options.
