Knowing how to dodge in Diablo 4 is an important skill, and one that’s going to keep you alive. You won’t always be able to damage your way through everything, so for those instances where you just can’t kill a monster fast enough, dodging is your best option.

If you’re exploring some of the Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks dungeons or find yourself up against any tough Diablo 4 bosses, here’s what you need to know about how to dodge in Diablo 4. Check out all the details about Diablo 4 Season 1 as well.

How do you dodge in Diablo 4?

The main way to dodge in Diablo 4 is to physically avoid an attack by using Evade. Evade is an action you can perform by pressing the spacebar on your keyboard, or the Circle/B button on a controller. This will make your character swiftly jump in the direction you’re moving, potentially avoiding any incoming attacks.

Be careful with it, though, as the ability can’t be spammed. The ability has a five second cooldown, which you can see just above your mana. This means you can’t just repeatedly evade to avoid all attacks, and will have to use it when you need it most.

Aside from physically dodging attacks, you can also dodge attacks depending on your stats. In the Defensive section of your character’s stats, you’ll find the Dodge Chance stat. This indicates the chance of you avoiding taking damage from an attack that hits you. The higher this stat is, the more chance you have of avoiding damage, making it a powerful stat to increase.

You can increase your Dodge Chance by increasing your character’s Dexterity stat, so prioritise items which increase this stat if you’re looking for more opportunities to reduce your damage taken.
