Struggling to find out how to play workshop maps in CS2? You’ve come to the right place. These fan-made modes were some of the most useful features introduced in CS:GO, as some creations not only enabled you to practice your aim but also gave you the chance to customize your crosshair effortlessly. Now that Valve’s previous FPS installment is obsolete, however, you may be wondering how you can access these helpful maps in the sequel.
Of course, if you want to improve and use better settings in the game, you can always learn the best CS2 crosshair codes and how to play with bots in CS2. But if you miss the unique features that were included with workshop maps, here’s what you need to do to play in them.
How do you play workshop maps on CS2?
To play workshop maps in CS2, you’ll need to follow these steps:
- Download the workshop map you want to play. The folder you get should contain a .vpk file.
- Next, head to the CS2 maps directory. For us, it was located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\maps
- Once there, paste the .vpk file you downloaded into the maps folder.
- Before launching the game, head to your Steam library, right-click Counter-Strike 2, and select Properties.
- Head to the General category, and under Launch Options, type -insecure in the field below it.
- Then, you can start the game up.
- On the main menu, open the in-game console by pressing the “~” key.
- Type in map <map name> and press enter.
- Wait for the map to load up and enjoy.
Since CS2 is still in its early days, this is the only way to get into workshop maps at the time of writing. However, we expect Valve to introduce a much easier way of accessing fan-made modes in the future, as this was one of the most popular features in CS:GO.
