If you’re looking for a list of Counter Strike 2 console commands, or you want to know what the best console commands for CS2 are, you’ve arrived at the right place.
When games are as heavily dependent on performance optimisation as Counter Strike, there’s often no room to get it wrong. While we’ve already had a look at what we think the best graphics settings are for CS2, the best console commands are going to help you in other ways that you might not have considered originally.
We’re also going to be covering what we think the best launch options for CS2 are, many of which fall under the umbrella of console commands.
Here’s what we consider the best console commands to use in CS2.
Best console commands in Counter Strike 2
cl_showfps 1 | This will show an FPS counter on screen, helpful if you’re struggling with performance. |
fps_max 0 | This will unlock your FPS in-game, meaning you will achieve peak performance. |
bind [action][key] | Similar to how we created the jump throw bind, this is going to allow you to merge any in-game action with any input you have available. |
r_drawtracers_firstperson 0 | This will remove the ‘tracers’ from bullets fired out of your gun (for yourself.) It won’t remove tracers from other players, nor will it stop other players from seeing your tracers. |
We’ve collected a few console commands that we think will greatly enhance your experience in Counter Strike 2. We’d recommend you have a toggle with all of these, especially unlocking your frame rate. This will ensure that you’re playing at the smoothest possible FPS, alongside allowing you to use a higher refresh rate alongside the best monitor.
Another key console command you’re going to want to toy with is the bind command, which will let you create bespoke key binds. One, for example, that we’d encourage you to build is the Jump Throw bind, and others include a Jump Mouse Wheel button bind.
Best CS2 launch option commands
Unlike CS2’s console commands, you can actually input launch options before you even open the game. This means you can enter a string of commands that is remembered for each time you launch Counter Strike 2.
In order to input them, you have to head on over to Steam and right click Counter Strike 2 in your library. Click Properties and you should see a launch options input box.
You will see the above window open, though your text input box will be empty. Input the following directly into there, then launch CS2:
-novid -high +fps_max 0 -nojoy +violence_hblood 0 -softparticlesdefaultoff -tickrate 128
-novid | Disables the start-up video before launching the game |
-high | Sets the applications performance priority to the highest |
+fps_max 0 | As mentioned before, removes the FPS cap from the game |
-nojoy | Disabled joystick and controller entry, improving performance and resource allocation |
+violence_hblood 0 | Disabled blood and gore |
-softparticlesdefaultoff | Disabled soft particles |
-tickrate 128 | Sets the game’s tick rate to 128, which is the fastest network speed |
We’d recommend gearing up your game with the best launch options for CS2 which will help to optimise your game drastically. You’re probably not going to care too much about these if you’re simply playing Deathmatch, but if you’re interested in climbing up the CS2 ranks you’re going to want to have a look at these, alongside checking out our CS2 tips.
