Not only does he have a much higher capacity for damage-dealing, but the chainsaw villager will also relentlessly pursue you at a quicker pace than the others in Resident Evil 4 Remake. And if he manages to get up in close quarters, this enemy is capable of killing you in a single swing.
Thankfully, your knife can be used in a last-ditch effort to save yourself. The chainsaw can be parried like any other melee weapon, though your knife will lose a huge amount of durability in the process. Be ready to parry as if your life depended on it because, in Leon’s case, it very much does.

It’ll take some serious firepower to bring the chainsaw villager down. While it’s possible to stock up on a lot of ammo by exploring the village as much as possible before triggering the villager attack, you’re still going to burn through bullets at a rapid rate.
Thankfully, the village contains a secret weapon that Leon can use against its inhabitants. While entering the house that contains the shotgun will cause even more villagers to spawn – not to mention summon the chainsaw villager if he hasn’t already shown up – the added boost to your offensive capabilities is more than worth it.

While the villagers are an unruly mob at the best of times, they can show some devious teamwork at times. If you allow yourself to be swarmed by the regular villagers, the chainsaw will be slicing through you before you know it.
If your sights are solely locked on the chainsaw villager, there’s every chance you’ll be caught out by regular foes instead. Look around as often as possible and always have your next escape route in mind.
