Call of Duty franchise continued to iterate on the Zombies mode formula with each new instalment. Black Ops 6 brings the latest improvements with several new features, including Augments. They represent a research path that lets you incrementally improve your performance in the game mode across several categories. This will inevitably make you more powerful, so it’s very useful to know how to research them.

How to research Augments in BO6 Zombies

You can access Augments research by heading into the Zombies mode and selecting Weapons. From there, click on the Augments option. However, note that you need to reach Player Level 11 to access this section. On the Augments page, you can select to Equip and Research them.

You can only select one Augment to research at a time, which is shared across all types. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Major or Minor Augment, you can have only one of them in the research slot. After selecting your research, head back and start a game of Black Ops 6 Zombies. The research accumulation functions in a similar manner to gaining XP. You have to play rounds of Zombies, kill enemies, and complete S.A.M. Trials. Additionally, you can get more research points by using the item that you’re researching. For example, if you’re researching the Supercharged Augment for Speed Cola, then using Speed Cola during the round will net you more research speed.

Each Augment has three Minor and three Major options. After researching them, you can equip one of each type to a selected item. So you can only have one Major and one Minor equipped to it, even if you’ve researched them all. That gives you room to experiment and find the ones you prefer to use. Minor Augments give small advantages during the item’s use. Meanwhile, Major Augments can substantially improve an item’s performance.
