Search & Destroy

Search & Destroy is a 6v6 mode in which teams take turns to detonate or defuse a bomb. There are no respawns, creating a classic team shooter experience.

Kill Confirmed

In this game mode, you collect dog tags off of fallen players, both friends and enemies. This way, you accrue or deny points for your team, aiming to score the highest.

Free-For-All

This is a true free-for-all mode, with no teams. You’re on your own and have to kill enemies to earn points on the scoreboard. The first player to reach the goal is the winner.

Hardpoint

Battle to capture and control Hardpoint zones in 6v6 format to earn points for your team. Each consecutive Hardpoint is numbered, which lets you track their number and position on the map.

Ransack

Two teams of 6 players race to collect gold bars and bring them back to their team’s stash. The other team can ransack their stores, meaning protecting your earnings is just as important. The team that reaches the score limit wins, otherwise, the team with most gold when timer ends is the winner.

Gunfight

Duo on duo, or 2v2, this mode is for short and sweet gunfights. Obviously, there are no respawns and the goal is to eliminate both enemies using pre-determined classes to win each round.

Headquarters

In this 6v6 game mode, you have to capture the HQ before the enemy team. Then, you have to defend it – while the defending team can’t respawn any more. The other team has to assault the HQ and wrest control for themselves.

Kill Order

Both teams of 6 also spawn with HVT. The goal is to eliminate the enemy’s HVT while protecting your own. You score points for killing enemies, and a bonus for eliminating the HVT as well.

Control

In this mode, two teams of 6 players take turns to attack and defend zones across the map. The winner is the team that scores better at the end.

Alternate modes

Face Off Domination6v6
Face Off Deathmatch6v6
Face Off Kill Order6v6
Face Off Kill Confirmed6v6

All of the alternate game modes follow the same rules as their standard namesakes. The only difference is that these variants have no scorestreaks – they are disabled in Face Off versions.

Hardcore mode variants

The hardcore game modes are rules variations to many other game modes. In hardcore mode, you play with a limited HUD, friendly fire is enabled, and your health pool is much lower. Currently, the following game modes will have a hardcore quick-play version:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Kill Order
  • Domination
  • Hardpoint
  • Search & Destroy
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Free-For-All
  • Face Off Moshpit

Additional game modes

Along with the game modes we’ve described above, there are a few more that you can use to prepare for action. These represent various practices or leisurely modes that are not necessarily competitive (or multiplayer for that matter), but deserve a shout-out. The modes in question are:

  • Training Course
  • Firing Range
  • Theater Mode

Training Course

This mode comes with several maps that you can select along with obstacle and movement courses to practice map traversal. It will come in handy to practice the new Omnimovement feature in Black Ops 6.

Firing Range

One of the most useful warm-up tools in any shooter is the standard firing range. There are plenty of settings you can fine-tune to practice your favourite weapons, or try out new mouse sensitivity or controller aim assist settings.

Theater Mode

The Theater Mode is an all-new cinematic mode that lets you capture your favourite match highlights and fiddle with settings to make them even more glorious. It comes with several options to make your highlight reels look just right.
