The XMG is often overlooked but you should definitely give it a test drive in Black Ops 6. Slotting into the Light Machine Gun (LMG) category, the XMG doesn’t possess excellent mobility but it certainly makes up for it in other areas. Although mobility is its biggest drawback, the weapon still features impressive damage output and crisp ironsights mean you have a spare attachment slot available to improve other areas such as damage range and movement speed. If you’re looking for something to contend with the AK-74 or the SWAT 5.56, we’ve got all the intel you need to know.

Pros
  • Huge magazine size
  • Deals high damage at good range
Cons
  • Slower fire rate
  • Can feel unwieldy

Best Black Ops 6 XMG attachments

Thanks to the gunsmith, there are several ways you can gear the XMG loadout to suit your own style of play. After some testing, this set of five is an excellent choice if you’re looking at eliminating multiple opponents with ease:

Weapon partAttachmentLevel to unlock
BarrelLong BarrelLevel 9
UnderbarrelRanger ForegripLevel 26
MagazineFast Mag IILevel 18
Rear GripQuickdraw GripLevel 8
StockBalanced StockLevel 47

The Long Barrel minimises any kind of damage drop-off when using the XMG at longer distances while the Fast Mag II magazine guarantees you have fast reload speeds in the heat of battle. To tame the recoil slightly, the Ranger Foregrip slots into the Underbarrel. In addition to stability, it also provides much-needed movement speed improvements to give you a fighting chance against the quicker assault rifle and submachine gunners you’ll encounter on all the maps and in all game modes.

Reaction times are always important in Call of Duty which is why the Quickdraw Grip features as part of the best XMG loadout. The quicker aim-down sight (ADS) speed is perfect for snapping onto targets even with a heavy LMG equipped. Sometimes, a bit of balance is required and the Balanced Stock does just that. Mobility is the biggest drawback of the light machine gun and with this stock equipped, you benefit from further movement speed boosts when you’re not aiming and quicker speed when you’re moving and walking at the same time.

Best Black Ops 6 XMG perks and equipment

Once the attachments for the best XMG loadout are ready for battle, picking the right perks and equipment to bolster performance even further is the next step before you load into the action. Here are our recommendations on what to use alongside this underrated LMG.

Perks

  • Perk 1: Flak Jacket
  • Perk 2: Assassin
  • Perk 3: Double Time
  • Perk 4: Bankroll
  • Wildcard: Perk Greed

The Perk Greed Wildcard allows you to pick four perks instead of three and we’ve selected the trio of Assassin, Double Time, and Bankroll for further movement improvements and some additional score which helps earn those high-tier streaks as fast as possible. Alongside those Enforcer perks, we’ve selected Flak Jacket for increased resistance to incoming explosives that are bound to land near you over the course of a match.

✓ Combat Specialty

Picking three Enforcer perks unlocks its Combat Specialty giving you faster movement speed and health regeneration immediately after scoring a kill.

Equipment

  • Lethal: Frag
  • Tactical: Stim Shot
  • Field Upgrade: Trophy System
  • Secondary: 9mm PM

It’s hard to go wrong with a trusty Frag Grenade in Black Ops 6. You can cook it to perfection for huge explosive damage or throw one from afar for an ambitious elimination attempt. Next is the Stim Shot which gives you an immediate boost of health in the heat of battle. Blocking grenades makes all the difference when you’re in control of an objective which is where the Trophy System comes into its own. It may only block a few but it’s often enough to keep a specific area of the map locked down.
