Can you play the Black Ops 6 campaign offline? No, here’s why

Playing games online has been a norm for a good few years now. Having to keep your PC or console connected to the internet to play any game, be that single or multiplayer, is nothing new to most of us. It’s a common trend, so the question is – does Call of Duty Black Ops 6 have to be online to play the single-player campaign or can you do it offline? That’s what we’re here to discuss.

Is the Black Ops 6 campaign playable offline?

Unfortunately, no, you can’t play the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 single-player campaign offline. You have to be always connected to play even the campaign. That goes for both the PC and console versions of the game, no matter the platform. That will be a first for console players, who were able to play the campaign offline before.

Like us, you might be wondering why that’s the case. Here’s why according to Activision’s support page: “To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes.” In addition, the devs clarified further: “This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.”

This points to the texture streaming feature as the main culprit, which is Activision’s effort to lower the installation size. With this, the game is “only” around 150 GB if you install every game mode, including Warzone. It’s still pretty hefty by any standard, but if staying always online means we can save some space, perhaps it’s worth it. However, not all players are happy with this, as expected, with some experiencing crashes due to this requirement.
