Call of Duty and hefty file sizes go hand-in-hand, peaking with 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 weighing in at a bulky 235 GB. With murmurs of players needing a chunky 300 GB to install the latest Black Ops 6 circulating due to details listed on the since-edited Xbox store page, there’s rightly concerns that some may need to invest in a new SSD dedicated to the first-person shooter.
Fortunately, the actual Black Ops 6 install size is rather more modest. Activision was quick to point out that the 300GB was for full installation of MW2, MW3, Warzone, all content packs, and all language packs so not representative of the “typical player install experience.” We’ll walk you through all the Black Ops 6 file size details below.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 download size
Ahead of pre-loading, there’s been no official confirmation from Activision about precise download sizes other than for PC where recently released system requirements point to players needing 102 GB of free hard drive space to install the game. Below are file sizes for every platform gleaned from labels on physical retail copies and pre-load estimates shared on social media.
Platform | File Size |
---|---|
PC | Campaign + Multiplayer – 102 GB |
PlayStation 5 | Campaign – 37.43 GB Multiplayer – TBC |
PlayStation 4 | Campaign – 17.4 GB Multiplayer – 12.1 GB |
Xbox | Campaign + Multiplayer – 98.6 GB |
It’s best to view these as estimates rather than set in stone figures. This is because downloads sizes will vary depending on whether you already have Call of Duty installed on your system and if Treyarch pushes out any last minute patches and optimization tweaks that might affect disk footprint. Those with last year’s CoD installed should expect a heftier download. We also don’t know how Zombies and Warzone might affect the install size either.
Once we have a clearer idea of install sizes and official confirmation from Activision, we’ll update the table above. Even then, file sizes are likely to vary as players opt to pick and choose which modes – campaign, multiplayer, Warzone, Zombies – to download. This is purely speculative at this point, but we recommend freeing up around 150 GB of free space to be safe.
