Doing away with the seasonal model of the past few years, Black Ops 6 instead opts for the classic Prestige system. Untethered from the need to wait for fresh seasons to unlock new levels, you can grind through the progression system to your heart’s delight from day one. With no artificial progression blocks tied to seasons, Black Ops 6 is sizing up to offer the “most rewarding Progression and Challenge systems ever delivered in a Call of Duty game”, if Activision’s marketing blurb is anything to go by. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the BLack Ops 6 Prestige system, including how it works and all the rewards you can snap up for levelling up your account all the way to Prestige Master.

How to Prestige in Black Ops 6

As you play through Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone matches, complete Challenges, earn Medals, and show off the very best of your combat skills, you’ll earn XP that goes towards raising your level. There are 55 levels and each one offers Level Unlock rewards that include scorestreaks, operators, weapons, gear, Calling Cards, emotes, and GobbleGums

Once you hit max level 55, you can Prestige, resetting your levelling progress for special rewards and the chance to do it all again for even better unlockable content and the option to Prestige again. However, opting to Prestige comes with some trade-offs that effectively place you back at the bottom of the levelling ladder:

  • You’ll reset to level 1
  • You’ll need to grind to get all Level Unlocks again, excluding Base Operators, Emotes, Zombies GobbleGums, and Permanent Unlocks.
  • Loadouts will reset.
  • In-game stats will only apply to your current Prestige level.

However, you’ll still conserve some of your hard work: Camos, Reticles, Weapon Progressions, Weapon Builds, Challenge progress, Blueprints, and Skins won’t reset.

Once you Prestige, you’ll receive several instant rewards and can work towards Prestige rewards inspired by past CoD games at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 alongside the normal Level 1 to 55 Level Unlock rewards. You’ll also get one Permanent Unlock per Prestige Level, a no-questions-asked pass to unlock any single item of your choice out of the Level Unlocks that won’t relock when you Prestige. You could, for example, opt to unlock your favourite gun instead of grinding to get it each time you Prestige.

Prestige Levels and Prestige Mastery Levels

There are 10 Prestige Levels to work through and then what’s called Prestige Master, the max level and endgame of Black Ops 6’s progression system. Unlike previous Prestige Levels, Prestige Master pushes past Level 55, rising up to Level 1,000.

You’ll receive instant rewards for hitting Prestige Master but also Legacy Prestige Icon sets every 100 levels. Level Unlock rewards also become permanent and Permanent Unlocks are no longer available as a consequence. Once you hit Level 1,000, you’ll become a Prestige Legend, unlocking further Classified rewards. Here’s a breakdown of all the Prestige Master rewards:
