How to start the Find the Mushroom Picker quest in Baldur’s Gate 3

You can get the quest Find the Mushroom Picker from Derryth Bonecloak in the Myconid Colony in Baldur’s Gate 3. She’s a merchant who’s on the lookout for powerful mushrooms and other herbs in the Underdark. She sends her husband Baelen Bonecloak to get some Noblestalk mushroom, a powerful healing item. 

Head to the Dread Hollow north of the Myconid Colony towards the marked location. Leave the colony via the southwest exit. Then keep going on the walkway towards the west. Expect Hooked Horrors to impede your path. You’ll find Baelen stuck in a field of explosive bibberbang plants. Baelen’s location has the potential to trigger a chain reaction with a single mushroom. The general area places your entire party in a dangerous situation.

How to save Baelen in Baldur’s Gate 3

To save Baelen, throw a scroll of Misty Step, use Enhance Leap, or use Misty Step in Baldur’s Gate 3. Save beforehand as one wrong move can kill Baelen and your entire party. These are the main ways to rescue Baelen in BG3:

• Pass a Strength – 10 check to throw a scroll of Misty Step from your inventory. Try using a high-strength character like a Barbarian or Fighter and not a Wizard or Warlock. I was considering using the throw skill to see how he’d react but luckily, it’s one of the conversation choices.
