- You will need to mod Baldur’s Gate 3 to get cheats and console commands on PC.
- There are currently no direct in game cheats in the game.
- The PC version can use Cheat Engine, ReCon small remote utility, or mods to activate cheats.
By using cheats, you can radically alter your journey through the famed D&D Forgotten Realms setting. This lets you exploit various parts of the game and can change up the traditional loop with absurd modifiers and neat twists, which makes for a fun second playthrough. With the PlayStation release, those on consoles have been wondering if they can enjoy cheats commonly present in PC games.
PC and PS5 Cheats
Currently, there are no official cheats available for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC and PS5. Those on PC can use console commands or trainers such as Cheat Engine and the ReCon small remote utility. While it takes a bit of setting up, there are some methods that let you activate PC cheats and console commands. They have a variety of interesting effects that we’ve listed down below. But before that, let’s see how to get them up and running on your machine.
Console commands
As it stands, there are no console commands. With that said, you can enable a form of console commands in BG3 thanks to a mod that effectively adds this feature to the game. You will need to install one other mod – the Baldur’s Gate 3 script extender – to get this to work. This is the only way to get console commands working in the game, and it probably will remain the best method going forward. As per the Nexus Mods page, these are the available console commands thanks to this mod:
Console Command | Effect |
---|---|
TemplateAddTo(“UUID”, GetHostCharacter(), quantity | Add item to Inventory |
AddGold(GetHostCharacter(), X) | Add Gold |
Osi.AddExplorationExperience(GetHostCharacter(), X) | Add experience points |
SetTadpoleTreeState(GetHostCharacter(), X) | Set tadpole state |
AddTadpole(GetHostCharacter(), X) | Add tadpoles |
Osi.GiveInspirationPoints(GetHostCharacter(), X, “”, “”) | Add Inspiration Points |
Osi.StartChangeAppearance(GetHostCharacter()) | Change appearance |
Osi.StartRespec(GetHostCharacter()) | Respec levels |
Osi.ChangeApprovalRating(“COMPANION UUID”, GetHostCharacter(), 0, X) | Change approval |
SetMaxPartySizeOverride(12) | Change party limit without PartyLimitBegone mod |
With a total lack of in-built cheats and console commands, you are much better off modding Bladur’s Gate 3 via Nexus Mods. There are several cheat items and scripts there, which arguably enhance the game without needing to mess around with Cheat Engine or any other software.
Cheat Engine
The most reliable method of using cheats is the BG3 Cheat Engine. Many have reported that these do indeed work. They’ve been able to perform all sorts of feats like gaining new spells and items. If you have the know-how, you can make your own cheat table for BG3. Taking advantage of cheat engine scripts is a great and fairly hassle-free way to tweak the game. With all the pre-made lists, you have plenty of options with Cheat Engine.
However, remember that Cheat Engine is a community service that relies on cheat tables made by other users, which might come with various risks. Here’s a quick walkthrough of how to use Cheat Engine with Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Install Cheat Engine.
- Download and open the CT file from this forum to open it.
- Run Baldur’s Gate 3 and open your latest save.
- Open Cheat Engine on your machine.
- Find bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe. Open this folder and then open your cheat table.
- Click the PC icon in Cheat Engine to select the game process. Keep the list.
- Activate the trainer options by checking boxes in the bottom portion of the window, and changing setting values from 0 to 1.
And here’s a short list of commands that you can expect from Cheat Engine, as listed on the Cheat Table forum. Remember, before enabling Register Commands, you must first load your saved game.

Cheat codes via ReCon small remote utility
Older Larian games like Divinity Original Sin 2 also let you apply cheats and console commands via the ReCon small remote utility. If you download it, place ReCon in the Divinity Engine installation folder, next to the Engine executable. To open Recon, while in the editor, press the CTRL+SHIFT+F11 keys simultaneously. To activate a cheat, after typing out a cheat from the list, press Enter to confirm. Here’s a list of potential BG3 cheat codes via the ReCon small remote utility:
Cheat Code | Result |
---|---|
god | Turn on God Mode, type it again to turn it off. |
peace on/off | Turn on Peace Mode and type it again to turn it off. |
killcombat | Kills all enemies in current combat. |
nocooldowns | Removes cooldowns. |
infiniteAp | Your actions will cost 0 AP. |
killArmor | Sets the magic and physical armour of the selected character to 0. |
nearlyKill | Sets the HP of the currently selected character to 1. |
infiniteMemory | You will have over 9000 memory. |
resurrect | Resurrects currently selected character. |
Game trainers
You can also enable cheats with the help of an application called a trainer. Think of it as an application that acts like Cheat Engine but with easy-to-understand UI elements. While this route isn’t as safe as the other options, it’s a simple way to go about cheats. Note that this carries some risk compared to the other alternatives. WeMod is a popular game trainer, but it comes with its own drawbacks.
Save editors
A save editor is used to modify save files based on your demands. This has the potential to alter a character’s level, skills, and proficiencies in the game. Currently, there are no options to alter BG3 save files with a save editor. As modders spend more time tinkering with the game, they may be able to let you edit your save files. However, there are mods at Nexus Mods that are unmodded save files, taken at various points in the game for you to use. Remember that backing up your save files first before messing with them is a good idea.
Script extender
A Baldur’s Gate 3 script extender is required for some mods and cheats to work. It does this by adding new functionalities and expanding scripting options. While Norbyte has a script extender on GitHub, many have reported issues while trying to use it. Note that this isn’t essential to using BG3 cheats or installing mods.
All in all, there are several options when it comes to cheats for BG3. While we do not endorse and recommend cheating due to various game-breaking additions, we suggest modding the game. The benefits of Nexus Mods are better than anything else, offering the simplest methods when it comes to cheating and altering the game.
