With the Apex Legends Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event start time approaching, it’s as good a time as any to get ready for Respawn Entertainment’s next crossover event. This time it’s a crossover to celebrate the arrival of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in February. So when does it begin?

Here, we’re covering the Apex Legends Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event start time, as well as taking a look at our favourite skins and going over what the new gamemode will entail. Similar to the Uprising event before it, this is a limited-time thing, so be sure to pick up the best weapons, unlock the best Legends and dive in while you can.

Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event start time

The Apex Legends FF7 Rebirth event will start on January 9, 2024. It should begin at the usual update time, which is 6 PM GMT/ 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET. The event is expected to launch simultaneously across Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5, and PC, barring any unanticipated delays.

Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event end time

The FF7 Rebirth crossover event will come to an end on January 30, giving you three weeks to play. We expect it’ll leave at the same time it arrived, 6 PM GMT/ 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET. Once it’s gone, you’ll be unable to claim any of the event cosmetics, so if you find anything you want to pick up, we’d recommend doing so while the event is live.

Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 skins – What cosmetics can you pick up?

There are a total of 36 cosmetics to pick up during the event. You’ll be able to earn some event rewards using the event currency Gil, which you can earn by completing matches of the limited-time gamemode. As with any collection event, the main cosmetics are earnable through event packs, with each pack opened giving a unique reward. You’ll also be able to make cosmetics purchases with Apex Coins.

We’ve done a full breakdown of all the Apex Final Fantasy 7 skins we know about so far in a dedicated guide, but here are some of our highlights.

  • Horizon’s Flower Girl skin
  • Valkyrie’s Materia Girl skin
  • Cyrpto’s Hacker: 1st Class skin
  • Newcastle’s Sector 7 Saviour skin

Cosmetics are only one half of the event of course, with the other being the new gamemode.

Apex Legends Final Fantasy 7 Takeover game mode – What you need to know

The new Final Fantasy VII Takeover mode will be the highlight of the collection event. While it will replace unranked battle royale for its duration, the mode is more of a modified BR than something entirely different.

The mode has two main features of note that we know about. First is the Buster Sword R2R5, arguably the Final Fantasy series’ most iconic weapon. As well as being a universal mythic heirloom skin, the weapon itself will appear around the world and in care packages through the duration of the match. It’s got a light and heavy attack. The former is a block which reduces incoming damage when held. The latter is a dash attack, perfect for closing distances quickly. Blocking and dealing damage both help to fill up the weapons charge metre. When full, the wielder can use Limit Break.

The second feature of the FF7 LTM is the Materia you can collect around the world. These will often spawn in limited-time Catcuar Ticks. When broken open, different coloured materia will drop, with each being able to attach to select weapons and all carrying a unique ability.
