The Sakin MG38 is a strong LMG that you can use to mow down opponents within MW2. Featuring a moderate rate of fire and a huge magazine to tackle large groups of opposition with ease, the Sakin MG38 has a chance to find its way into the early meta. Although it packs a punch, the lack of mobility makes it tricky to move around the map quickly which can leave you vulnerable to fast-moving submachine gunners.

Call of Duty players may not use this weapon type most of the time, but they hit hard and are a load of fun to use. Infinity Ward seems to have taken note and introduced the Sakin MG38 to the fight. Whereas the Icarus is the “fast” LMG, this is at the other end of the spectrum. It’s very heavy, and very slow. So while it does have good damage, you probably won’t even have shouldered the weapon before you get outgunned.

Sakin MG38 Overview

The Sakin MG38 is a primary Light Machine Gun featured in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode, available from the get-go with a pre-built loadout. The weapon was featured in the Open Beta and will be available on Day One once the game launches. In a field crowded with excellent light machine guns, the Sakin MG38 stands out for its sheer endurance, boasting an incredibly large clip size in Modern Warfare 2.

As long as you find somewhere defensible to set up, the Sakin MG38 will serve as an incredible turret-like option, cutting down enemies before they can get close. The Sakin MG38 is undeniably powerful, but it may require some fine-tuning to be used to its full potential.

Design

The design of the Sakin MG38 is based on the real-life IWI Negev NG7. The Negev NG7 is a modern machine gun of Israeli origin. It was developed by IWI at the request of the Israeli Defense Force and was adopted around 2012.

The Negev NG7 fires the 7.62x51mm NATO round. It is belt-fed only. Clip-on belt boxes for 100 or 125 rounds are issued with the Negev NG7.

How To Unlock The Sakin MG38

Some of the Modern Warfare 2 weapons are unlocked from the beginning, and some need to be unlocked later as you progress. Among the weapons that need to be unlocked by reaching a particular level,  Sakin MG38 is one. This will be unlocked by leveling up to rank 11 in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Play matches, complete objectives, and net kills to earn XP, and climb your way to 11.

Thankfully, all of the weapons in the game can be unlocked easily by leveling up. But, thanks to the new receiver system within the Gunsmith, there is more than one way to get your hands on a weapon. And, some particularly strong guns can even be unlocked much earlier than if you were to not utilize this feature.

Stats

The belt-fed Sakin MG38 light machine gun delivers devastating 7.62 rounds at a high fire rate thanks to a short-stroke gas piston. In Modern Warfare 2, the Sakin MG38 offers more ammo capacity than others of its type. While it provides solid stats in Range, Fire Rate, and Recoil Control, its Mobility suffers a substantial toll, which could hamper its performance in combat. Nevertheless, those who become accustomed to how the weapon “feels” in battle in Modern Warfare 2, will be able to utilize its large ammunition capacity to wreak havoc on their enemies.

Capacity

The Sakin MG38 holds a total of one hundred rounds of ammunition. In addition, the gun features a reserve of one hundred rounds. But the magazine for the Sakin MG38 doesn’t last all that long due to the high fire rate. So, you’ll most likely have to swap out magazines on the go.

Fire Rate

The Sakin MG38 compensates for its poor damage per shot with the highest rate of fire among all LMGs, firing at 937 RPM. The Sakin MG38 can compensate for its damage shortfall somewhat through sheer volume of fire.

Damage

The Sakin MG38 is a low-damage LMG. In all circumstances, it deals thirty damage per bullet. This will require four shots to kill at all ranges. The Sakin MG38 deals 42 damage on a headshot, needing just three shots to kill and only needing one headshot to reduce the shot threshold. Damage is the Sakin MG38’s biggest weakness relative to other LMGs, as it needs more bullets to get kills.

Accuracy

For an LMG like the Sakin MG38, accuracy is acceptable. Although fairly obtrusive, the iron sights are tiny enough to not significantly hinder the player’s peripheral vision.

Mobility

It is important to keep in mind that you must run more slowly when you have this weapon equipped. The movement speed of this weapon makes it act similarly to other LMGs. Therefore, navigating out of tight spots or flank scenarios will certainly be a difficult feat as you’ll have to swap out to a secondary weapon. So, make sure to have an acceptable secondary on hand at all times with a Sakin MG38 loadout.

Recoil

The Sakin MG38 is the only LMG that has a downwards recoil value. The Sakin MG38 tends to drift up far less commonly than the other LMGs, with the vertical recoil being much easier to control. However, the Sakin MG38 will still have significant horizontal recoil.

Reload

The Sakin MG38 reloads faster than the other two LMGs, even if users of the other two LMGs reload cancel them properly. Proper reload canceling on the Sakin MG38 will make the weapon far less risky to reload with than either of its peers.

Close Range

The LMG is a potent weapon for close-quarters combat because of its ferocious firing rate. At close range, the weapon is effective in eliminating adversaries that take the route of close-quarters combat. Expect to quickly subdue run and gun enemy operators, especially in tight spaces.

Long Range

The Sakin MG38 has a reduced effective firing range and has twice the amount of dispersion at long ranges. So, eliminating targets at longer ranges will definitely be an option that’s out of the question. If you notice any enemy snipers dominating the long-range or scouting rooftops, avoid these encounters under any circumstances.

Weapons Platform

Weapons Platforms simplify attachment unlocking and progression in a user-friendly way, allowing you to swap between different play styles with ease while employing the carefully chosen roster of weapons that are accessible on a platform. Currently, there is no weapon platform mentioned for the Sakin MG38 in the Modern Warfare II beta.

Blueprints for Sakin MG38

Players may enjoy personalized weapon builds and experiences by using blueprints that have been pre-built with custom attachments and weapon skins. The armory portion of the weapons tab is where blueprints are displayed. The Sakin MG38 does not yet have any blueprints, but they will be included once the game is formally released.

Attachments

The Gunsmith system has been redesigned in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so you may customize your weapon to fit your own playstyle.

Attachments for specific weapons can be unlocked as the player levels up. Currently, no barrel, magazine, rear grip, and stock attachments are available for the Sakin MG38, but players can at least enjoy Optics, Muzzles, Under Barrels, and Lasers for the weapon. For now, the following weapon attachments are available for the Sakin MG38 in the beta version, and more will be listed on the official game launch.

Perks to Equip With the Sakin MG38

Recommended Perks

  • Fast Hands
  • Overkill

Alternative Perks

  • Basic E.O.D.
  • Bonus: Focus
  • Ultimate: Survivor

Fast Hands

The Fast Hands perk is a lifesaver when equipped with the Sakin MG38, drastically cutting down on reload times. The Sakin’s incredible clip size means that Fast Hands is less of an absolute necessity than with other LMGs, but it still comes highly recommended.

Overkill

The Sakin MG38 is clearly not a run-and-gun choice and can be a bit difficult to set up and get operating properly. The mobility and adaptability of your loadout can be improved by bringing a second primary weapon.

Best Alternatives to Sakin MG38 in Modern Warfare 2

There are two alternatives for Sakin MG38 in Modern Warfare 2 beta. One is the 556-Icarus. It’s the most user-friendly LMG in MW2. It has a decent range, is accurate, and isn’t extremely slow when equipped with the correct attachments. Overall, it performs like a heavy assault rifle because of its minimal recoil as well.

And the second alternative is The Lachmann platform’s LMG variant and our absolute favorite is the RAPP-H. The weapon is particularly powerful since it has a very low rate of recoil and a very high rate of fire. Usually, a rapid rate of fire is accompanied by a high rate of recoil, but not with the RAPP H.
