After much speculation, Bloober Team’s mysterious Valentine’s Day tease was revealed to be Layers of Fear 3, which is an exciting prospect for survival horror fans who continue to eat well in 2026. The tease was originally thought to be a remake of the controversial PS2 game, Rule of Rose, before Bloober Team CEO, Piotr Babieno, shot this down

It was then revealed that the tease wasn’t for a remake of anything, which led fans to speculate about new IPs, such as ‘Project C’, or the project known as Onyx The Dark Grip, something else Bloober Team is working on.

The tease consisted of a countdown to Valentine’s Day and a website that featured a recording of someone reciting William Blake’s the Sick Rose poem, something that led fans to speculate that the project could be connected to Rule of Rose, until Babieno debunked this theory.

So far, Bloober Team has not confirmed a Layers of Fear 3 release date. However, the developers have shared a creepy announcement trailer that offers a few glimpses as to where the horror franchise could be heading.

Layers of Fear was Bloober Team’s big break and is a horror game that sees an artist return home to their family estate, only for the ghosts of their past catch up with them in spooky fashion. The game received a sequel in 2019 and a remake with new content in 2023.

Since starting the series, Bloober Team has evolved to become a studio known for its horror games. They developed the stellar Silent Hill 2 remake and 2025’s industrial sci-fi horror, Cronos The New Dawn, and are currently developing a remake of Silent Hill 1.

However, to some horror fans, Bloober will always be the minds behind the twisted Layers of Fear games, making this announcement almost a homecoming of sorts.
