Cronos The New Dawn’s upcoming easy mode, called “Temporal Diver Mode,” will be coming by the end of this week. While the developer, Bloober Team, hasn’t given an exact date or time for when the update will drop, Cronos fans should be able to try the new easy mode by the weekend.

Cronos The New Dawn is a sci-fi survival horror game that sometimes feels like a mix between Dead Space and Silent Hill. This is apt, as Bloober Team was also the developer behind the highly praised remake of Silent Hill 2, and also has something else in the works, on top of a remake of Silent Hill 1.

Sharing the good news on X (formerly Twitter), Bloober posted: “Travelers! We’re in the final stretch before launching Temporal Diver Mode! The update with easier difficulty option will start rolling out to Cronos The New Dawn by the end of next week!”

Cronos needed an easy mode

Critics gave Cronos The New Dawn positive reviews when it released back in September 2025, but they also balked at the needlessly difficult gameplay. Survival horror games should be challenging, but some players prefer a more relaxed experience while being stalked and spooked by monsters.

Bloober Team clearly wanted to make difficulty an important part of the Cronos when it released the game, going for an almost Dark Souls-style approach. Having miscalculated the appetites of its players, the company is now responding to feedback accordingly.

It’s positive that Bloober heard the response and added an easy mode to accommodate more players. Not all players have the time or inclination to overcome a massive challenge, so easy modes are often a welcome sight. Just like the casual difficulty added to Silent Hill f after its launch, this change is likely to see more players give the game a chance.

However, not all games should have an easy mode. While we welcome Cronos and Silent Hill f adding less punishing modes, we’re in full support of Soulslike games remaining challenging without easier difficulty options. Adding them would change the very point of these games, where that doesn’t apply to experiences like Cronos, but that’s a debate for another day.
