Samples are an important part of Helldivers 2 but are often overlooked. They are used to upgrade your Ship which makes completing missions easier as the upgrades unlock perks and improvements to your Stratagems. However, the UI isn’t very intuitive when it comes to team missions, but one player has a simple suggestion that could fix that issue.

U/LacyeMilk took to Reddit to suggest a much-needed quality-of-life change to the UI, especially when it comes to Samples. All Samples collected in a mission are shared by all of the players on the team, which is great because everyone benefits from the exploration of the map. However, when a player is killed they drop every item they’re carrying, including Samples. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to tell how many Samples each player is carrying, so if one player collected the majority of them, having them be killed can mean that the team loses the majority of their Samples.

This suggestion by u/LacyeMilk will add a secondary number that will indicate how many the player is carrying. While it is a small change to the UI, it would make it much easier to know how many Samples each player has, which can help with figuring out the importance of retrieving them upon being killed.

Samples are an important feature in Helldivers 2, with them being used to upgrade your Ship Modules, which improve things such as Stratagem cooldowns and how many times they can be used in a mission. Depending on the difficulty of the mission, players can collect Common, Rare, or Super Samples, with them each being needed if you want to unlock every upgrade in the game.

Following the recent PSN controversy over the past couple of days, it is nice to get back to Helldiving and collecting Samples. Recently, Sony announced that all players will need to connect a PSN account to Helldivers 2 to keep playing. Unfortunately, the majority of the world is unable to access PSN services which could lock players out of the game on PC. Thankfully, this seems to be getting resolved by Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios, which is great news because we have a Major Order to complete as the Terminids have recently begun to create a super colony, which means we need to go and liberate them and bring democracy to the galaxy once again. To do this, we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide so you and your team can be suitably equipped to eradicate the Automatons and Terminids while collecting all of the Samples needed to upgrade your Ship.
