After spending the past month focused on the Automatons, it is now time to turn our attention back on the Terminids as they look to mount a full-scale attack after the Terminid Control System failed to keep them at bay. Now, players must liberate the barrier planets once again to keep the Terminids at bay, but the future of Helldivers 2 is looking very uncertain.
In a trailer, Super Earth has given players an update on the current Major Order, explaining that the Terminids are building a “Super Colony” after the Terminid Control System failed to eradicate them from some of the barrier planets.
According to Helldivers.io, the Terminids are currently regenerating at a rate of 3% per hour, only slightly below the Helldivers efforts of 3.08% liberation per hour. Although it is likely that players will beat the current Major Order, it does seem like Arrowhead Game Studios is about to put a lot of focus back on the Terminids. We could see a similar scenario that we saw with the Automatons earlier this month where they come back stronger than ever.
With both the Automatons and Terminids growing in numbers, it does beg the question of whether Super Earth could become under attack in the near future as the two enemy sides wage an assault on our home planet. Players did have to defend Super Earth early on in the game’s release but since then it has remained 100% liberated and no threats have been made against it. If an attack on Super Earth does occur, it could distract the Helldivers enough for a new threat to appear in the galaxy, such as the highly anticipated The Illuminate who have been rumored to be coming to the game for some time now.
As the Terminids grow in numbers and the future remains uncertain, now is the best time to ensure you’re ready for whatever they have planned next.
