With a release confined to Next Gen consoles and PC only, many are wondering if Jedi Survivor will come to PS4.
Jedi Survivor is the sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, the first game in the Star Wars Jedi series. While the original saw a release on PS4 and PS5, it seems the follow-up game isn’t getting the same treatment. The game joins Cal Kestis in his quest across the Galaxy, as he flees Sith Inquisitors and defeats Rancors. Developed by EA – Jedi Survivor is a big game with extremely impressive graphics – however, while it looks fantastic, this is a problem for those playing on previous generation consoles. Jedi Survivor probably never come to PS4.
Why won’t Jedi Survivor ever release on PS4?
It’s highly unlikely for the game to ever release on PS4 as it’s simply too big, too graphically intensive, and too complex for the PS4 to handle. While the GPU equivalent to the PS5 is an RTX 3070, the PS4’s GPU is much weaker, having released way back in 2013.
A console released in 2013 simply isn’t cut out to run a game released in 2023, and realistically it’s about time that the PS4 is slowly phased out of development plans. As harsh as it sounds, it simply can’t keep up.
According to Stig Asmussen: “[they] wanted to evolve / enhance the experience” of the first game, and the only way to do so is to continue development on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Alongside that, the inclusion of ray tracing already disqualifies the PS4 from having compatibility.
It’s also on people’s minds whether Jedi Survivor is coming to Switch, and honestly, that doesn’t seem likely either.
