The LG C2 remains hugely popular since its release, but does LG C2 support DTS?

DTS stands for Digital Theatre Sound and is used by filmmakers to create multichannel sound, and is used both in cinemas and home entertainment set-ups. In other words, DTS is responsible for that surround sound experience. It’s remarkably similar to Dolby Atmos, so it’s understandable if you’re getting the two confused.

The LG C2 does not support DTS, instead favouring Dolby Atmos. DTS is not supported through the C2’s eARC port, and is not supported by Netflix or Amazon Prime.

This isn’t much of an issue though, especially since Dolby Atmos is more widely supported than DTS. If you’re concerned about sound quality, you should consider investing in a soundbar for your TV. As you might expect with a slim profiled TV, the LG C2’s speakers might benefit from additional power and bass.

Which is better DTS or Dolby?

There isn’t really a clear winner. DTS and Dolby are rival sound systems, and both are used by a variety of streaming platforms and cinemas. They both create 3D sound experience as opposed to a generic surround sound.

Dolby Atmos has been adopted more widely than DTS, and yes, that includes by Netflix & Amazon prime. Even though DTS is technically better on paper because of its higher bit rates. You don’t really have to choose between the two though, since you can enjoy high quality audio regardless of the system used.

That being said, the LG C2 speakers are, like many slim profile TVs, not as powerful as some may like them to be. Whether the LG C2 needs a soundbar is still up for debate, but we think if audio is important to you – it’s worthwhile for sure.
