Enthusiasts for the Capcom franchise are keen to know whether Street Fighter 6 is on Switch.

Since Capcomm announced that SF6 is crossplay, available on both PC and game consoles, many Nintendo Switch fans are eager to know whether the much-loved franchise will be available on their console too.

Since the Street Fighter 6 system requirements have been out, anyone loyal to Switch will be weary of the technical limitations the next-gen game might pose. The Street Fighter franchise has come back fighting with upgraded graphics and next-gen features. Given the Switch is a six year old console, it’s only natural that the hardware might struggle. This doesn’t necessarily have to be an obstacle though. We’ve seen Capcom capable of making their games compatible with Switch in other games like Resident Evil, so maybe we’ll see the same story with Street Fighter 6 for Nintendo Switch.

We really hope so. With the World Tour Mode giving us an exciting RPG element, the cherry on top really would be having the option to play the game on the go.

Is Street Fighter 6 on Switch?

Capcom has officially confirmed that Street Fighter 6 will not be on Nintendo Switch. It’s unlucky news for any Switch fans hoping to jump on board the Street Fighter train at launch. It will be available to those on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.

Though we’re yet to hear any hints that this will change, a game coming to Switch later is not unheard of. Any Mortal Kombat fans will know that the eleventh edition made its way to Switch sometime after the initial launch on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. We could see history repeat itself for Street Fighter 6.

Another glimmer of hope comes from the rumoured release of a Nintendo Switch 2 that could mean games like Street Fighter 6 could be played on the new console.

Why isn’t Street Fighter 6 coming to Switch?

As we briefly touched on, this could be a hardware issue to do with the Switch’s processing power. The console might struggle to process fights between characters, as well as maintain the frame rates when players are off enjoying their RPG style World Tour. Ultimately, there isn’t any concrete information on why we’re not seeing SF6 on Switch. In the meantime, we’ll keep our ears to the ground for news on this story. Make sure you check back for future updates.
