- Open up Midjourney Discord channel
Log into your account and get onto the Discord channel.
- Choose an image that you want to edit
After you generate an image through Midjourney, it will be uploaded to a specific URL which you can get through right clicking the image, and choosing the copy image address option.
You can also use images not generated through Midjourney in the same way. - Paste the address of the image in the chat bar
Paste the URL into the chat bar. Either right click and select Paste or press Ctrl V.
- Add edit prompts
Similarly to how you would use prompts on Midjourney normally, write what you want to change.
For example, a photo of a young woman but wanting to edit the image to be more colourful, in different location and different style:
[URL] colourful outfit, blue hat, green shirt, happy image in busy café, cartoon style

- Generate an image: After you create a new image in Midjourney, click Make Variations
- Use either the /prefer remix command, or the /settings command then clicking Remix Mode, you will be able to modify the image
- Request changes such as lighting overhauls, texture differences, or art styles

- Enter Vary Region Command: Use !varyregion or /varyregion in the Midjourney Discord chat

What images can you edit with Midjourney?
You’re going to able to modify a bunch of images with Midjourney. There’s a few simple guidelines that will make things a little easier.
Aspect Ratio
Ensure that the image you’re editing exists within one of the aspect ratios that Midjourney is comfortable with, e.g, 16:9 or 1:1.
File Type
Midjourney is versatile enough to edit a few different image file types including JPEGs, PNGs, and GIFs, but other file types such as RAWs and HEICs will not work.
Final word
There we have it! Editing became a little bit simpler. For more detailed edits and fine-tuning, it would be worth checking out Photoshop or Photoshop alternatives. However Midjourney is equipped with tools to develop or adapt images, such as the aspect ratio.
