While we haven’t heard much about a launch date for Microsoft 365 Copilot, Early Access has recently begun for the 600+ companies, so we’re definitely edging closer to a release for the Microsoft 365 AI-powered assistant.
However, as with the Microsoft 365 suite, you can both run the software online and from your PC, so you might be wondering if you can download Microsoft 365 Copilot when it launches.
Can you download Microsoft 365 Copilot?
You can’t download Microsoft 365 Copilot, yet. Of course, the product isn’t launched yet, which is why you can’t download it. That doesn’t mean it won’t be available to download at some point in the future.
However – while it is technically possible that you might be able to download it at some point in the future – we don’t think it’s very likely at all.
Microsoft 365 Copilot runs using the GPT-4 language model, which is an artificial intelligence that is maintained by thousands of graphics cards in a server cluster. It’s technically impossible to download GPT-4, just like it’s not possible to download ChatGPT at the moment. While there are applications that you can download that have an API integrated into it – it might not be possible for you to do so with Microsoft 365 Copilot.
For one, it’s likely going to be more of an eternal presence in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. It’s like trying to download the Google Search function – you can’t really, but you can download Google Chrome. In the same way, you probably won’t be able to download Microsoft 365 Copilot, but you can download the Outlook app, which will have Copilot integration.
