It has been a great year for video game releases and Xbox Game Pass subscribers, and we are in the penultimate month of the year meaning Christmas is right around the corner. While the gift bag for Xbox Game Pass December 2023 games is frighteningly light so far, the good news is that the favorite to win game-of-the-year at this year’s Game Awards is coming to Microsoft’s console as the best present possible.
Before the month of Deck The Halls and Here It Is Merry Christmas comes about, know that there are several significant games leaving Xbox Game Pass before November 2023 ends. This is a shame, but it has still been a good month for subscribers. There’s been the release of Football Manager 2024, subscribers have gotten the excellent Persona 5 Tactica, and there’s also been the addition of Like A Dragon Gaiden.
Unlike all previous months so far this year, December is looking very bare so far. Santa Phil Spencer surely has unannounced gifts ready to deliver, but the greatest gift for Microsoft players is coming from Larian Studios.
Xbox Game Pass December 2023 games
The only games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass December 2023 so far are as follows:
- SteamWorld Build – Dec 1st
- Against the Storm – Dec 8th (PC)
SteamWorld Build is a fantastic addition to Microsoft’s library for next month. It has a gorgeous steampunk that meets the old Wild West art style, and it’s a simulation game where you get to build and manage to keep your society alive. You have to ensure humans have the water and supplies they need to stay alive, while also ensuring your steambots don’t get cranky and revolt.
Again, nothing else besides these two games is confirmed for Game Pass December 2023 so far. Microsoft will surely announce more soon, but right now we only know of SteamWorld Build and Against the Storm. And, at the same time, we also know we are getting a release date announcement for what many consider game of the year.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox in December 2023
Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox in December 2023. Per Larian Studios on Twitter, the specific launch day will be revealed at The Game Awards. It’s possible it could be a surprise launch on the day The Game Awards takes place, December 7th, and there’s a slight chance it could possibly join the Game Pass lineup. But, whether it joins the Microsoft subscription service or not, it’s a must-play for everyone on Xbox consoles.
It’s one of the GOTY nominees for The Game Awards, and it’s the favorite of many to take home the GOTY crown. This is because it’s not only a GOTY contender, it’s also a contender for RPG and game of the century. It has gorgeous visuals and presentation, its turn-based combat is incredibly fun, and the story is engaging with decisions that actually matter. Not to mention it has some of the best companions and romance options of any game ever.
The Game Awards is set to commence on December 7th. Aside from the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date announcement, Geoff Keighley has also sparked hype that we could see the GTA 6 trailer. Don’t forget December also sees the release date for Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.
