THQ Nordic has set its second annual Digital Showcase which is LIVE now!

The show will last around 45 minutes, and also include a pre-show hosted by HandyGames. You’ll be able to watch the proceedings in the player below at 8pm UK time today (August 12).

Below you’ll see the key news and announcements – coming LIVE as they happen!

As for what we can expect, let’s take a look at what we know so far, shall we?

Latest news

Hello! Tal, here.

We’re counting down the minutes until the showcase. Below you’ll find out a detailed ‘what we expect to see’ – but I’ll be positing LIVE updates here, too.

And we’re live!

Alone in the Dark

First up there’s Alone in the Dark. It looked good, with cartoon style graphics and third-person view.

It looked like there was a ton of shooting in it, which may surprise some hoping for more cerebral-style gameplay.

There was no release date revealed yet.

Destroy All Humans 2! Reprobed

Next up was Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, which showed off plenty of gameplay and the game running in Unreal Engine 4. It looked pretty good.

Space for Sale

Is an open ended build-up exploration game. You play an astronaut, who has to build cities for his clients. It can be played solo or with friends.

Gothic

Gothic remake sees you try to survive a violent mining colony inhabited with criminals and savage creatures. There was no gameplay, but we got an idea of what to expect – blood, gore and some weird spider things.

Jagged Alliance 3

Strategy game that sees select from a cast of mercenaries and explore Grand Chien. Your decisions will change the country’s fate.

The Valiant

The Valiant is squad-based RTS set in 13th Century Europe and the Middle East – that suports solo and co-op play. It looked pretty good – typical RTS. In fact, there are a LOT of RTS’s being revealed here.

Tempest Rising

Set in 1997 after the world has been nerfed by Nuclear War. There are three different factions with different features. Skirmish and multiplayer modes feature in what looks like a decent RTS.

Knights of Honor II Sovereign

OK… here’s ANOTHER RTS. Looked pretty good – you’re the head of a royal family and then go out to try and take over the world.

Outcast 2

It’s been 20 years but now we finally have a sequel. The presentation showed off some gameplay – which showed off some flying sections. A nice varied world and bright colour palette but I wouldn’t say mind-blowing visuals. Combat looks a bit like Mass Effect – over the shoulder style.

Wreckreation

This is an open world racing game that lets you create insane tracks on the fly. Looked a bit like Trackmania – only open world. You can share your creations with friends, which is cool.

Way of The Hunter

You take over your granddad’s meat business – and then set out to hunt out a load of animals.

Hyper realistic bullet physics feature and your own car – so it promises to be a real hunter’s paradise.

AEW Fight Forever

This looked awesome – great wrestling action that showed off some weapons.

Promises easy pick up and play gameplay, career mode and mini games. It’s playable in Gamescom!

Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake

Another cracker – third person platforming joy with stunning visuals.

Timings are in UK (BST):

19:17: Getting close now. Literally cannot wait until Alone in The Dark! Ramping up now as THQ introduce our hosts for the evening

18:36: The THQ showcase is now a mere 90mins away! And they’re reaaally promoting these discounts. I don’t blame them, they’re very good. You can get 70% off some Switch games. Our pick of the bunch is Darksiders 3, which is 40% off, at $23.99.

18:28: A looooooooot of people keen to see Alone in the Dark and I don’t blame them. The last one I played was back on the Xbox 360 and played more like an action game than a horror game proper.

18.25: The team at Nordic are in ‘Final preparations’ for the show and it promises to be a treat. They tweeted the below earlier. Oh and you can save 80% of select Nordic THQ games right now on Xbox – so check that out while you wait!

18.21: I’m particularly excited about Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, which looks absolutely stunning remade in Unreal Engine 4. I loved the PS2 original and think gameplay wise it has aged very well.

THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022 – what to expect

Last year’s show took place in September and was a special 10 year celebration of the label. While it won’t be a birthday-themed party this time around, we’re still expecting plenty of gifts.

We do know we’ll be getting our best look yet at AEW Fight Forever. The highly anticipated wrestling game will be the first from Yukes since their split from WWE in 2019.

Now with rival promotion AEW, the game’s been in development for a couple of years. Therefore, we’re expecting a release date is imminent.

Though only a rumour at this stage, word is that a brand new Alone in the Dark game is on the way. It looks to be a remake, inspired by Resident Evil 2. You can read more on that over here.

In the press release, THQ Nordic has also confirmed the presence of SpongeBob SquarePants, Destroy all Humans! 2: Reprobed, Jagged Alliance 3, Outcast 2 and at least 8 more titles to be revealed.

It’s set to be a good show, so bookmark this page now and return at 8pm UK time to watch the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022.
