The Alone In The Dark 2024 remake is finally set to come out. We were meant to get it last year as well as earlier this year, but it was delayed twice with the final reasoning being to avoid potential crunch. Thankfully, after two delays, the Alone In The Dark 2024 remake release date and time countdown is almost over with the game set to come out on PS5, PC, and Xbox in just a couple of days.

One of the most exciting aspects about the Alone In The Dark 2024 remake is the cast list and voice actors including David Harbour from Stranger Things and Jodie Comer from Free Guy. It is a remake of the first-ever installment that came out in the 90s, but it has reimagined gameplay in the sense that the original’s fixed static cameras have been replaced by third-person gameplay.

Everything about the game looks creepy and unnerving, and we cannot wait to experience the return of one of the OG horror greats back on the PS1. After two delays, the release date and time countdown is now imminent.

Alone In The Dark 2024 release date

The release date for the Alone In The Dark 2024 remake is March 20th. It was originally intended to come out on October 25th, 2023, before getting delayed to January 16th, 2024. It was then again delayed to avoid potential crunch.

Fortunately, no more delays are happening, and the game is set to come out on Wednesday. Unfortunately, its release date also coincides with all of the massive March 2024 video game releases. This includes the release date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 as well as the release date for Rise of the Ronin. Not to mention a new South Park.

The upcoming horror story will only be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for console. This means it does not support last-gen and will thus not be playable on either PS4 or Xbox One.

When does Alone In The Dark 2024 come out?

The release time for when the Alone In The Dark 2024 remake will come out is 7 AM PT/ 10 AM ET/ 2 PM GMT on March 20th. This comes courtesy of the countdown on the PSN and Microsoft store.

Unfortunately, there’s no countdown for PC on the Steam store yet as it merely says the game will come out in two days as of 2 PM GMT on March 18th. However, it’s likely that the release times are the same across as console and PC.

Plot and gameplay details

Alone in the Dark, we’re told, will be a reimagining of the first three games in the original series. Set in the 1920’s, you’ll be returning to Derceto Manor just as with the original 1992 release. You’ll also play as that game’s two protagonists: Private Investigator Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood, who will investigate strange residents and dangerous monsters at Derceto Manor and try to thwart a plot of rising evil.

However, we’re teased “a completely original story” that’ll incorporate familiar “characters, places and themes” from all three games in the original 90s trilogy for you to encounter. So don’t assume prior knowledge from the other survival horror games will spoil anything for you. Combat, the realms, and more will be similar and, of course, the southern gothic charm and psychological horror will return.

The pair are investigating the disappearance of Emily’s uncle. He’s gone missing in the manor, where something evil lurks. We’re told both plots will cross, with unique parts to both character’s stories. The game will also take an over-the-shoulder perspective, similar to the recent Resident Evil 2 remake.

There’s also some horror experts on the game’s development team. They include Mikael Hedberg, the writer of SOMA and Amnesia. The team’s even recruited Guy Davies to design the game’s monsters. He’s previously collaborated with horror legend, Guillermo del Toro.
