The First Descendant has largely been an excellent experience since launch, but even Nexon has admitted Season 1 got off to a rocky start. A lot of people were unimpressed with the farming rate for Hailey, and there were other divisive aspects of the update. To try to prevent such uproar in the future, The First Descendant will soon introduce test servers that players will be able to sign up for to provide feedback on updates before they are released.

There is a lot going on in the world of TFD. It’s been confirmed that the game is receiving a PS5 Pro upgrade for anyone willing to pay the console’s steep price, meanwhile, for everyone, Nexon has confirmed a huge multiplayer mode update is on the way. Not only that, but the developer has also discussed unofficially announced plans for Season 1 and beyond.

While all of the above is exciting, perhaps the best new feature on the way is test servers. These are coming to The First Descendant soon, and they will try to help ensure updates are better received upon launch.

The First Descendant is introducing test servers

The First Descendant is soon introducing test servers. This will allow Nexon to acquire player feedback before fully releasing new updates.

Although test servers weren’t explicitly mentioned, the first indication of Nexon stepping in this direction came in dev note vol.13. There Nexon mentioned, “We are considering having FGT (Focus Group Testing) after development is completed, or inviting players to gather feedback before the update is released and incorporating that feedback into the final release”.

Just recently Nexon once again discussed bringing test servers to the game. In an interview with Korean outlet, MK, Nexon’s head of publishing live, Choi Sung-wook, discussed how “Nexon plans to introduce a ‘test server’ to First Descendant soon where user feedback can be checked before the official update”.

The point of introducing a test server is to receive direct communication from players. A translation of the interview comes courtesy of Reddit OP, TorchNine.

In addition to Choi Sung-wook’s interview, The First Descendant producer, Beom-jun Lee, recently held a lecture in Korea. There he mentioned the future direction of the game is to quickly introduce content “centered on feedback, aiming to boost satisfaction”.

There’s no mention of when test servers will be introduced for players to sign up to other than “soon”. Hopefully it arrives before the second significant Season 1 update set to release on October 10th. This is the update that will introduce Ultimate Freyna to TFD.
