Nexon has listened to The First Descendant players since day one of the game’s release, and this has resulted in some much-needed quality-of-life improvements. TFD has a vocal fanbase, and a lot of the feedback shared on socials is constructive rather than vitriolic. A new update is planned for this week, and many The First Descendant players would like Nexon to remove a toggle that is deemed “annoying” and “literally useless”.

Season 1 is a perfect example of Nexon listening to the TFD community. Based on player feedback, they changed the Season 1 schedule from three updates to simply two, with the second update set to arrive on October 10th. In addition, as shared in the 1.1.0b hotfix patch notes, Nexon improved the farming rate for Hailey in a good apology to fans.

The First Descendant is great, but there are aspects that can be improved as with most games. Nexon have a done a good job delivering quality-of-life improvements in most patches, and many players would like to see a change to the game’s sprinting.

The First Descendant fans “non-toggled running removed”

On The First Descendant subreddit, OP WanderWut shared a post titled, “The ‘regular’ non-toggled running needs to be removed from the game“. Their post argues, “It’s so slow I don’t even know why it’s a thing, it’s feels like walking on molasses”.

The OP elaborates, “For a fast paced looter shooter the actual toggled running is still not even that fast, it should replace the regular running as the standard, and a faster running speed should be introduced”.

In response to the post, many of the replies say that Nexon should just remove the “annoying” toggle and have sprinting set to default. One of many comments echoes the sentiment, “Default sprint and toggle to walk,” and “Just give us an auto sprint”.

More comments echo the sentiment that sprinting should become the default for combat. One reply says the non-toggled running is “literally useless,  I’m ALWAYS annoyed when I try to move around and it’s just walking speed”. Another comment says, “I’d settle for the walk being removed as the default movement in combat maps and move the walk to city Albion only. Its very annoying to have to constantly hit a run button in combat”.

Not only is having to toggle to sprint deemed “annoying,” but fans have also pointed out that it can be even more frustrating with certain characters. For example, one of the replies says introducing auto-sprint “would be a huge QoL to Jayber since activating his skills ALWAYS forces him to stop sprinting. It makes his gameplay so insufferable sometimes”.

Removing the need to toggle to sprint, and making sprint the default outside of cities, is a good quality-of-life improvement idea from the community. Instead of making it the default for everyone, perhaps the best course of action would be for Nexon to add auto-sprint as an option in the game’s settings. That way players can remove the toggle if they so wish, while other players can choose to keep.
