Although Nexon’s looter shooter, The First Descendant, has its fair share of shortcomings, its core gameplay is undeniably enjoyable. The Colossi battles, in particular, are some of the most memorable parts of its gameplay (who could forget the first time they took on the Grave Walker?). But the developers can make it even more iconic by turning each fight against these hulking behemoths into an open-world encounter, like the World Bosses in Diablo 4 and Immortal.
If you’ve never played Diablo 4 or Immortal before, let us give you a brief overview of what World Boss battles are like. At a certain time each day, a powerful monstrosity spawns at a specific part of the map, which players on the same server can all gang up on to beat the living daylights out of. And, since these beasts are so powerful, the rewards are equally valuable. So, in a looter shooter like The First Descendant, where the core premise is grinding for loot, World Bosses would be a perfect addition.
Naturally, this isn’t lost on the game’s player base, with Reddit user Godzilla-Hates-You asking Nexon to introduce it to The First Descendant in a recent thread. Unsurprisingly, their request has gained much support since being posted, with some players likening it to Trion Worlds’ popular, albeit now defunct, third-person shooter, Defiant.
Of course, adding a massive gameplay feature like World Bosses to The First Descendant is easier said than done; it would undoubtedly take a ton of time to implement it into the game. Hopefully, though, it’s an idea that the developers can at least entertain since it would surely improve the game’s quality and longevity.
