  • Caliber is the premium currency in The First Descendant, so it can only be bought from the Shop for real-life money.
  • The in-game premium currency cannot be obtained in any other way in the game.
  • You have to use Caliber to buy other items from the store, such as the Battle Pass, Descendants, skins, and more.

Many free-to-play games on the market have a premium currency involved in some fashion. In The First Descendant, the name of that premium currency is Caliber, which is different to obtain than most other currencies you can get in the game.

How to get Caliber

Caliber is the only premium currency in The First Descendant, which means that it can only be obtained with real-life money. You have to buy it from the in-game Shop, where there’s a page dedicated to getting it. The store offers several package options, with increasing amounts adding a bigger bonus you can get if you buy the lump deal.

Total CaliberBreakdownPrice
250 250EUR/USD 4.99
520 500 + 20 bonusEUR/USD 9.99
1060 1000 + 60 bonusEUR/USD 19.99
2750 2500 + 250 bonusEUR/USD 49.99
3920 3500 + 420 bonusEUR/USD 69.99
5750 5000 + 750 bonusEUR/USD 99.99

The bundles offer incrementally larger bonuses. For example, at its most basic level, you would get 50 Caliber per Dollar or Euro spent. However, if you buy the most expensive bundle, you will get 57.5 per Dollar or Euro. That makes the math simple – the more you are willing to spend, the more in-game currency you will get.

That doesn’t mean that spending that much is a good idea, so make responsible decisions on how to spend your real-life money. We find that the sweet spot lies in the $20 area, where for a similar price to an indie game, you get 53 Caliber per $1. You can use that to buy the Battle Pass and have some left over for a booster pack or a small cosmetic.

You need to have an active and registered credit card to be able to purchase Caliber from the in-game store. If you’re playing through Steam, then you’ll be able to use your Steam Wallet to make the purchase. For Xbox and PlayStation players, you’ll be prompted to use the credit card linked to your relevant console account.

✓ Pro tip

When you purchase Caliber, it may take a little while for it to appear. Some players reported having to wait several minutes after making a purchase. Also, check your Inbox, as that’s where you can claim your currency.

Can you farm Caliber in-game?

The short answer is no, there’s no way to get Caliber without making a purchase. Currently, there is no in-game activity that lets you earn The First Descendant’s premium currency. The closest you can get is from the Battle Pass track, which offers it as some of its rewards. But even in that case, you will first need to purchase it through the store to get it.

What can you buy with Caliber?

Everything in The First Descendant in-game store can be purchased with Caliber. This includes various items, from in-game boosts to Descendants, skins, and material bundles:

  • Battle Pass and Premium Battle Pass
  • Descendants (including Ultimate Descendants)
  • Skins (Common, Limited, and Premium)
  • Makeup
  • Cosmetic Items and Attachments
  • Convenience bundles (resources, materials, boosts)

In our opinion, if you plan on spending money to get the in-game premium currency, the Battle Pass represents the best return for your investment. You will get plenty of cosmetics and boosts through the track, as well as a small kickback Caliber that you can use later on. It offers 96 tiers to earn rewards, with 60 days to get them.

You can buy Descendants if you don’t want to grind for them and wish to save time and resources. However, bear in mind that you can earn them through gameplay, so really evaluate your decision. Lastly, skins and cosmetics are something of a personal preference and don’t come cheap, so check them out in the store before committing to spending real-life cash.

Just bear in mind that you’re not required to buy Caliber to meaningfully progress in The First Descendant. It offers convenience, but with enough grinding, you can have powerful characters without spending a dime.
