The Finals fans have a lot to anticipate in the near future as we are currently in the penultimate month before the arrival of Season 3. Not everything about the upcoming chapter is official right now, but Embark has confirmed a few upcoming aspects. One of these confirmed upcoming aspects for The Finals Season 3 is the addition of a massive new comms feature many fans have been begging the developer to implement since day one of the game’s launch.
You can check out The Finals update 2.7.0 patch notes to see the latest round of bug fixes. While it’s not a big update, fans are over the moon that it has added the once hugely-anticipated goth girl skin to the store. In addition to the goth girl, Embark is imploring fans to sign a petition to make an awesome skin idea a reality.
While all of the above applies to Season 2, we are only one month away from the launch of Season 3. Embark isn’t ready to reveal everything about the upcoming chapter, but they have whetted the appetite of fans by confirming that text chat is coming.
The Finals dev confirms text chat for Season 3
The Finals developer, Embark, has confirmed that text chat is coming in Season 3. This confirmation comes courtesy of Embark personnel, Rob, in a Reddit AMA that took place on May 8th.
During the Reddit AMA, Embark were asked if the introduction of text chat is planned because it can be difficult for teams to coordinate with players who are not using voice chat. To this question, Embark Rob replied, “We know, we understand, we agree! We’re planning to add text chat during Season 3”.
Although not confirmed right now, the current Season 2 battle pass countdown suggests Season 3 is planned to begin on June 11th. This isn’t definitive and delays can happen, although noting has been suggested by Embark.
While it’s great news that the introduction of text chat is planned, the specific use of “during” suggests it will not be available from day one of the upcoming chapter. Still, the confirmation is exciting nonetheless.
Reacting to the news of text chat coming on Reddit, most of the responses are positive, but there’s some understandable trepidation about the possibility of toxicity. There will most likely be filters so certain messages are not possible, but hopefully text chat will be something that’s toggleable so it can be removed or kept depending on wants of the individual.
