Dotemu has released a new video going behind the scenes of upcoming side-scrolling retro-homage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

The video takes us to the studio of the game’s developer, Tribute Games as they speak on the game’s development. Co-Founder Jean-Francois Major speaks with publisher Dotemu’s Cyrille Imbert on how their TMNT fandom informed the project.  Of course, the game is specifically based on the most famous iteration of the Turtles, and the 1987 cartoon.

The toys, the comics and naturally the classic Konami arcade games were huge influences on the project, and a dream for both men. As Major says in a quote provided with the video, the project was an “incredible opportunity”.  He continued “I always held out hope that I’d be able to create an experience set in the original era that inspired so much of my childhood wonder.”

“We finally found a partner that shares Tribute Games’ passion for the Heroes in a Half Shell’s debut,” he continues. “Getting to continue the legacy of the classic, beloved TMNT beat-em-ups that fans around the world grew up playing is surreal.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was first revealed just over a year ago in March 2021. The game is expected to launch later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
