A hilarious Tears of the Kingdom weapon fuse may have just proven that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword. Although books have often been known by many as works of art that can save readers’ lives, one Zelda fan has decided to take this particular saying to a whole other level by creating an absurd looking Bookcase Shield to protect Link from would-be attackers.
Through the use of the new Tears of the Kingdom Fuse ability, a Redditor named u/prickleeyedbush was able to combine a Knight’s Shield with a random Bookcase to create the ultimate literary device. Filled to the brim with novels and tomes of varying shapes and sizes, even the strongest Bokoblin would have a hard time getting through this particular plot armor.
Additionally, the bookcase that was used also seems to be just as large as Link himself, so its protective capabilities become even more pronounced as our diminutive protagonist can barely be seen behind its large facade. You can’t hit what you can’t see after all, and this may have been the inventor’s goal with this wacky creation.
Those replying under the original post seem to agree with this sentiment as one responder said that they, too, had “never seen this.” Another commenter, on the other hand, observantly pointed out that the post creator may have just been going for a typical “STR/INT build” so that the inventor could serve up their own brand of poetic justice while casting spells with aplomb.
Regardless of what the Bookcase Shield inventor’s true aim was, it’s safe to say that this is only going to be one of many other crazy creations that we see over the coming weeks. Since Tears of the Kingdom is essentially giving players the ability to combine whatever they want, it’s only a matter of time until we see a creation that truly defies logic and any semblance of sanity.
