Insomniac Games has released the official main theme from its upcoming eagerly awaited superhero game Spider-Man 2.
The lead banger from the game’s soundtrack debuted during last night’s The Game Awards 10 Year Concert, as it was performed by a live orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl. Entitled ‘Greater Together’, the song was written by John Paesano and will be the lead song featured on the menu and of course during prominent parts of the game’s narrative. Now, eager fans of the series can listen to it in the comfort of their own home via Spotify or the music streaming service of their choice.
It’s a great track, blending together the familiar themes of the previous two Spidey games pretty well, before getting very dramatic towards the end, no doubt a nod towards the introduction of Venom and hinting at the darkness that may be within Peter (and potentially Miles, given we don’t quite know the full extent of the game’s plot yet) that’ll be brought out in that symbiote suit we saw him wearing in the latest gameplay reveal.
The live performance was accompanied by a number of other songs from the soundtrack of both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales played during the anniversary concert which was celebrating ten years of the Geoff Keighley-produced show which takes place around December of each year. Other games that music aficionados got to hear included tracks from Diablo, Final Fantasy 16, The Last of Us and Starfield. The next Game Awards, which will be the show’s official tenth anniversary, are expected to take place in December of 2023.
It’s been an exciting time for Spider-Man fans of late, with the game being made available for pre order just this last week. That’s on top of Insomniac’s version of the web-slinger even making a cameo appearance in blockbuster Hollywood animated movie Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse. As previously mentioned, we also recently got to see some gameplay as part of the recent PlayStation Showcase, and a few days later we got confirmation of the game’s release date.
