Rise of the Ronin release date – pre-orders, editions, and setting detailed

The Rise of the Ronin release date is fast approaching, with a scheduled worldwide release in late March. As we draw closer to that date, more details about the game are coming to light.

Rise of the Ronin is the latest game from Team Ninja, the developers who worked on Nioh and Wo Long. We’ve seen more about the game’s story and the pre-orders and editions you can buy on the PlayStation Network, which we’ll explore in more depth further down.

Rise of the Ronin release date

The Rise of the Ronin release date is March 22, 2024. The game has a worldwide midnight release, meaning you can play it at midnight, 12 am local time.

At the moment, Rise of the Ronin is only being released on PS5 consoles. Whether or not other platforms like the Xbox or PC will get a Rise of the Ronin port, remains to be seen. For now, expect Rise of the Ronin to only be released on PS5.

Rise of the Ronin pre-order and editions

There are currently two editions of Rise of the Ronin that you can pre-order. On the PSN, the Rise of the Ronin Standard Edition costs £69.99 on PlayStation 5. The Digital Deluxe Edition is £79.99, but this will include:

• Bando Warrior Armour set

The Rise of the Ronin Standard Edition doesn’t come with any extras, even if you pre-order it. The contents of the Digital Deluxe edition, in this case, don’t seem to be worth the extra price in our opinion. You can buy physical editions of the game from Amazon for £62.95, but there are no bonuses that come with the standard edition.

Rise of the Ronin setting and story

Rise of the Ronin is an open-world RPG set in war-torn 19th-century Japan. Team Ninja, the studio behind Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Wo Long is leaping into a full open-world game, filled with exploration and combat.

The setting for Rise of the Ronin takes place in 1863. The Black Ships of the West have made land in Japan. This period of history is a time of great political unrest and change in Japan, as the country decides whether or not to open its borders to trade. Amid all this chaos, your player-created character – the Vielled Edge – is forging their own path for revenge and becomes embroiled in the political upheaval.
