It’s been confirmed that once more there’ll be a MW3-flavoured PlayStation 5 bundle available this Holiday season to coincide with the popular shooter’s launch.
The news comes hot on the back of the PlayStation exclusive weekend of beta, with players’ attention now turning to the MW3 beta start time for the second weekend as Xbox and PC players are allowed to join the fray. Right now, it’s very light in terms of details of what the bundle will specifically comprise of, but it’ll be available day and date with the full launch of Modern Warfare 3 on November 10.
Last year’s bundle simply included a standard PlayStation 5 console and a copy of the game, which many fans found a little disappointing – even more so that it was only a standard version of the game, and didn’t even include any fancy extras or themed hardware. However, it’s of note that the launch date is roughly the same time Sony are debuting the new PlayStation 5 Slim console, and at the time of writing it’s unclear if these bundles would include the old console or the new one.
It’s also worth pointing out that it’s likely to be the last PlayStation console Call of Duty bundle altogether – given the ongoing purchase of Activision by Xbox that includes the Call of Duty series. While any existing agreements like that between Call of Duty and PlayStation that pre-date the sale to Microsoft – will no doubt still be honored, it’s highly unlikely that Microsoft will want to be selling consoles of their chief rival with one of their games attached to it. So this bundle could wind up something of a collector’s edition, in that sense.
