The PlayStation Plus August Essential games are now available to claim, and the offerings are great with the likes of Five Nights At Freddy’s Security Breach and the wonderful Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. While the Essential selection are available to play right now, the reveal date for the PS Plus August 2024 Extra and Premium games is less than a week away. A leak has possibly emerged online, meanwhile, four more titles are confirmed to be leaving the subscription tiers.

August promises to be a brilliant month for gamers. The release date for Black Myth Wukong, arguably the most-anticipated game of the year, is just over the horizon, and there’s also the imminent release date for Star Wars Outlaws. There’s also the release of Madden NFL 25, and CastleVania is getting brought back to life in the world of Dead By Daylight with Dracula and Trevor Belmont.

All of the above is no doubt exciting, but PlayStation subscribers are also eagerly anticipating the announcement of the PS Plus Extra and Premium additions. The reveal date is less than a week away, and a possible leak might mean we are getting more Clank.

PS Plus Extra and Premium August 2024 games reveal date

The reveal date for the PS Plus Extra and Premium August 2024 games is August 14th. Sony always reveals the Extra and Premium games on a Wednesday one week after the release of the Essentials. The August 2024 Essentials were given away on August 6th, hence the impending follow up for next Wednesday.

After the games have been announced, they should come out to play on August 20th. In regard to the September 2024 Essentials, they are expected to be identified on August 28th with an official launch confirmed for September 2nd.

To avoid missing out, make sure to claim the current monthly games before they expire. Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga and Five Nights At Freddy’s Security Breach are the big names, but Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is a beautiful and fantastic 2D action RPG with gorgeous artwork.

Possible Premium leak

A possible leak for Premium this month is Secret Agent Clank. As shared by influencer realradec on Twitter, PlayStation sent an email advertising PS Plus with Secret Agent Clank mentioned for the Premium tier alongside Summoner, Jeanne d’Arc, and Job Simulator.

The email was sent on July 30th, and the July 2024 Premium additions did include Summoner, Jeanne d’Arc, and Job Simulator, as well as the Extra games mentioned in the email. The only difference is that, instead of Secret Agent Clank, it was Ratchet and Clank Size Matters that was added last month.

It seems Sony made an error by naming the wrong Ratchet and Clank spin-off. Although nothing is official, it seems likely Secret Agent Clank will be added to Premium sometime in the future, but whether it’s for August remains to be seen.

Four more games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium August 2024

Before the reveal of this month’s Essential offerings, we reported the following games will be leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium in August 2024:

  • NBA 2K24 – Aug 20th (Extra)
  • Need for Speed Unbound – Aug 20th (Extra)
  • SpellForce III Reforced – Aug 20th (Extra)
  • Trials of Mana – Aug 20th (Extra)
  • Destroy All Humans – Aug 20th (Premium)
  • Destory All Humans 2 Reprobed – Aug 20th (Premium)

Unfortunately, Truetrophies has just reported that four more games are leaving taking the total departures to ten. Below are the four more titles set to disappear:

  • Lost Judgement (Extra) – Aug 20th
  • Moving Out 2 (Extra) – Aug 20th
  • Midnight Fight Express (Extra) – Aug 20th
  • Sea of Stars (Extra) – Aug 20th

It’s a shame to see all of the above set to leave. NBA 2K24 makes sense seeing as the release date for NBA 2K25 is soon, and we recommend playing Destroy All Humans as they are excellent nostalgia throwbacks with relatively easy platinums. SpellForce III is also an excellent RPG, meanwhile, Lost Judgement is a fantastic Yakuza-spin-off with a detective element.

While we don’t know when it will come out, Wuthering Waves has been announced for PS5, too, and there will be the launch of Genshin Impact 5.0 towards the end of August.
