Palworld has only been out in early access format for a little over a month. Pocketpair has released a slew of updates, but these have provided bug fixes rather than bringing any new additions to the game. Fortunately, while bug fixes and patches are always welcomed, the developer has good news for Palworld fans craving new content.

Thanks to holidays in Japan plus other reasons, we hadn’t received an update for a few weeks. Thankfully, the new update 0.1.5.0 is now out, and you can check out the patch notes online to see everything it fixes. While it fixes and improves several components reported by the community, Pocketpair has acknowledged it has also added two new issues that they will try to fix ASAP.

In addition to the above, the update has also implemented a massive fix that has left fans screaming ‘no’ in despair. Overall, the update has been received extremely well by the community, but it’s only natural some are asking about when new content will be added. We still don’t know exactly when, but the developer has assured fans additions are coming.

Palworld dev says new content is in development

Palworld developer Pocketpair has said new content is also in development for the game. This was via Palworld_EN on Twitter in response to a fan’s query about whether update 0.1.5.0 was a content update. Patch 0.1.5.0 doesn’t add any new content at all, but developer Pocketpair has confirmed that they are simultaneously working on future additions.

This echoes what Pocketpair’s community manager, Bucky_cm, has said on the Pocketpair Discord channel. While there’s no timeframe for when new stuff will be added, Bucky_cm has said that Pocketpair is developing new content while simultaneously working on updates full of bug fixes. This is good news for the community as it means new content hasn’t been fully put on the back burner until a later date.

In addition to revealing that new content is simultaneously being worked on, Bucky_cm has also discussed the game’s future. Replying to people on Discord, the community manager has suggested Palworld’s future could be similar to Pocketpair’s other game, Craftopia.

Replying to a fan concerned about how long the game will be labeled early access, the community manager said ‘Would it be so horrible if we worked on Palworld, never asking for DLC fees, etc for 4 years’ and ‘Would it really offend you that much if we worked on a game for years and years and years adding more and more content and while asking for nothing but the initial purchase price?’.

They further asked ‘If we continue to work on and add new content to Craftopia for the next 20 years, does it really matter that the two words “early access” are attached to it?’. Although this doesn’t spell out that Palworld will be exactly like Craftopia, it is good to hear the hypothetical that Palworld could be a game supported for years and years with more content and free DLC.

No specifics were mentioned by Pocketpair or Bucky_cm, but the roadmap has outlined new additions such as new pals, new islands, and new bosses. As for what pals could be added, a fan has datamined a secret pal that massively resembles a famous legendary Pokémon baddie.

In other Palworld news, a fan has found a secret unused dungeon that you can build a base inside. There is an ongoing competition for fans to win a custom Palworld Xbox console and controller, and the game has destroyed another massive milestone.

Palworld is available on Steam, along with Xbox and PC via Xbox Game Pass.
