Once Human has been a hit so far, although it has been plagued by major issues such as not being able to switch servers and receiving criticism for its microtransactions. Despite this, many players are currently enjoying the new MMO survival game and its future looks bright. The developers, Starry Studio have recently released a new blog post, detailing what players can expect over the coming weeks.
In a recent FAQ, Starry Studio revealed that Once Human is set to receive controller support next month saying “Once Human is scheduled to provide support for controllers in early August. Efforts are underway to ensure a seamless controller compatibility, with a focus on delivering a high-quality experience to players.” It is surprising to see the game not allow players to use a controller at launch, especially as a large portion of gamers exclusively use controllers from the likes of PlayStation and Xbox.
Also in the FAQ, it was announced that the game will allow players to change key binds and receive support for DLSS in August too, followed by Russian and Spanish support in September. These features are very standard and expected in most games, so it seems odd that the developers chose to release Once Human without them.
Despite these features being missing, it hasn’t affected Once Human’s popularity, with it currently being the 5th most-played game on Steam ahead of the likes of The First Descendant. Despite being rough around the edges, the post-apocalyptic survival MMO is proving to be a huge hit, although whether it can maintain this long term remains to be seen.
