The next No Man's Sky update — the one that developer Hello Games previously called 'the most ambitious chapter so far' — will be made available to players on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on August 14.

Called Beyond, the free update was announced back in March, and is something players have been waiting a long time for: Basically, it'll allow players to meet up with one another, and go off exploring and all that.

On top of that, you can really pretend you're a spaceman in around two weeks time, as VR support is being added to the game on PC and PS4. Hello Games' Sean Murray said, a few months back, that 'virtual reality feels like a little science fiction become real, and has always seemed like a perfect fit for this futuristic game of ours.'

It's no secret that No Man's Sky had a rocky launch, but things such as the Next update, and this upcoming patch, do show that the English developer has been focussed on getting the game to a better place. Fingers crossed this Beyond thing is what you've built up in your head.
