Valorant has had a great year so far thanks to Episode 8 introducing new agent Clove as well as the new map, Abyss. Episode 9 hasn’t introduced anything new as of yet, but Riot has been teasing the introduction of a new agent. The reveal date for the new Valorant agent in Episode 9 has been confirmed along with its role.
Everyone is anticipating the Valorant release date for PS5 and Xbox consoles. A leak suggested it was happening this month, but, as of writing, there’s no word from Riot Games so that doesn’t appear to be happening. As for right now, you can check out the 9.01 patch notes to see the latest changes and fixes from Riot Games, and a report suggests Riot internally cancelled a Smash Bros-esque fighting game in the LoL universe.
The Valorant Champions 2024 tour is set to continue very soon in the heart of Seoul, and this event includes the reveal date for the new agent set to come out in Episode 9.
New Valorant agent reveal date for Episode 9
The reveal date for the new Episode 9 Valorant agent is August 23rd. Not much is known about the upcoming playable character, but its role is initiator as per ValorantUpdated.
It will be Riot Games’ seventh initiator. Below is the list of initiators currently available:
- Sova
- Breache
- Skye
- KAY/O
- Fade
- Gekko
Unfortunately, aside from its role and reveal date, not much else is known about the character away from teasers.
One of the teasers appeared in the Episode 9 Act 1 trailer. This trailer closes with brief cinematic snippet where we see spikey roots and thorns weaving out from beneath cracks in the ground.
In addition, there was also a tease at the end of the Abyss map trailer. This teaser shows a claw inside some sort of pod. The claw is completely static until it moves, indicating the new agent has awoken.
After all of the above, ValorantLeaksEN shared playercard teasers for the new agent called “In Bloom” with the codename, “SilverThumb”.
Finally, there is also the teaser of an hour glass getting wrapped up in vines, continuing the theme from the end of the Episode 9 Act 1 trailer. This is possibly representative of their abilities.
