THQ Nordic has cheekily revealed that a new South Park game is on the way from the publisher.
The news came right at the very end of the publisherâs THQ Digital Showcase over the weekend. Just as the hosts had signed off and the ending logo had appeared, a message appeared on the screen.
âAs of today, THQ Nordic (HandyGames not included) has 43 games in development,â it read. âThereof 26 still unannounced AFTER this showcase. Thank you for watching.â
The 26, however, was hastily scribbled out before the South Park Digital Studios logo popped up. It was followed by the voice of Randy Marsh saying simply: âOh, itâs comingâ and the number corrected to 25.
No further details were announced, so right now we donât know platforms, genre, or indeed anything else about the game. A special 25th Anniversary South Park concert took place over the weekend, but nothing game related seems to have come from that. For now, weâll have to wait to hear more, it seems.
The last major home console South Park video game was 2017âs superhero pastiche South Park: The Fractured But Whole from Ubisoft. In 2021 we learned that a new South Park game may be in development. However, Ubisoft didnât seem to be involved.
Then, earlier this year, The Magic Circle and The Blackout Club developers Question Games were recruiting for staff to work on a South Park game in the Unreal Engine.
Thereâs no word yet if their South Park game and this THQ Nordic project are one and the same, but weâll keep our ears to the ground and let you know when we know more.
