The new Helldivers 2 Major Order is live and it could be one of the toughest events that we’ve seen so far in the game as players are tasked with eradicating 5 million Bile Titans from the galaxy. This comes following the emergency 01.001.005 hotfix that fixed a crashing issue with the Impalers, a new Terminid enemy that you will likely encounter during your time completing this Major Order.

The latest Major Order saw Helldivers 2 players liberate Curia and defend various Automaton-controlled planets. The community was successful in its efforts, earning 45 Medals and 29,000 Requisition Slips. Following the completion of the Major Order, the briefing gave players an update saying,

“The Automatons have been pushed back from the sectors closest to Super Earth. Our high-classification citizens have been protected, their patriotic dedication rewarded with the guarantee of safety they deserve.

This success would not have been possible without the extra chemical weapons provided by the disgraced soldiers who submitted counterfeit samples. Their nonstop work with highly toxic chemicals provided the boost we needed to push the Automatons back. Their debt to Super Earth has been repaid in full, and they have earned the right to serve Super Earth in their new role, with clean slates.”

The next Major Order was then given, which will send players back to the Terminid Sectors as research continues into the Gloom, with the briefing stating,

“Efforts to research the growing Termini spore cloud known as the Gloom have failed. Hamstrung by sorting counterfeit from genuine samples, our scientists have discovered little of use to restrict its growth. Now, the cloud encompasses nearly a dozen, and shows little sign of slowing. If it continues at this rate, the entire galaxy will be consumed in a matter of weeks.

But we will not allow a mere lack of scientific understanding to thwart decisive action. The Helldivers are ordered to deploy in full force to hold back the Termini swarm with the deployment of every weapon in their arsenal. The source and nature of the Gloom may not be clear, but the mass extermination of its tyrannical spawn will send a clear message to the mindless bugs: Freedom will not be intimidated!

To drive this message home, the Helldivers are ordered to specifically target the largest of the Termini: the Bile Titans.

Finally, we must prevent the Termini from infesting any more planets. Whether or not conventional infestation aids the spread of the Gloom remains, as with most things, uncertain, but our citizens need reassurance that their livelihoods will be protected.”

The Helldivers 2 Community Manager Baskinator took to Discord to share some additional information on the new Major Order saying,

“With the bots repelled for the time being, focus once again shifts to our dilemma with the Gloom. Efforts to research the growing Terminid spore cloud have stalled, but we will not allow a mere lack of scientific understanding to thwart decisive action. The Helldivers are ordered to deploy in full force to hold back the Terminid swarm with the deployment of every weapon in their arsenal.”

Helldivers 2 Major Order Challenges August 21 2024

The new Helldivers 2 Major Order looks like it could be one of the toughest ones that we’ve seen in a while, with players having six days to eradicate a total of 750,000,000 Terminids, as well as 5,000,000 Bile Titans, the toughest enemies in the game. Players will need to head to difficulty 5 or higher missions to locate the Bile Titans, with them having their own mission too which will make things easier. There are 65 Medals on offer as a reward so players can continue to unlock everything from the new Freedom’s Flame Warbond, but this could be a Major Order that comes down to the wire.

This Major Order comes following the recent nerf of fire, which could have really come in handy right now. Despite this, the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun is still a fantastic weapon and I still highly recommend players use it, although the new Cookout Shotgun is another great alternative. To help you optimize your loadout to spread as much democracy to the Terminids as possible, I highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide.
