The Modern Warfare 3 community has been pouring over the recent multiplayer trailer, and now they’re hyped to try a brand new game mode on the Rust map.
Community members have been closely examining the trailer frame by frame since it dropped, and one part that’s got them very excited – with some trepidation – is the first glimpse of the upcoming MW3 Cutthroat mode that will be debuting in the new game. While the multiplayer trailer didn’t show too much of this, a brief snippet of an overview of the map clearly showed the fan-favourite Rust map – which will also be one of the maps playable come the MW3 beta start time – showing three teams and confirming that said mode will be playable in this locale.
Over on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit, many members of the community are hyped for the new mode. “Multiple teams is something I’ve asked for a long time, I hope it’s good.” says Minddrill. Others, meanwhile, are very aware of the size of maps like Rust and are slightly worried. “The Rust map is small and I already see the same problems with player spawns as MW2 had.” says VariousComment6946. However, there’s also fans that are relishing the potential for what’s sure to be fast-paced fun. “This better be in HC,” says Encelagans. “It will be insane chaos, but a couple of times a session, that would be a blast.” “I can see two teams teaming up and absolutely ripping up the last one,” says 828NSt2v2rb2. “Intersting to see how this will work.”
Rust is a fan-favourite map amongst the Call of Duty community, and the fact that it’ll be one of 16 classic MW2 2009 maps that will make up the MW3 map list will no doubt please those people. It’ll be interesting to see how the new features of MW3 will play out on these locales – and exactly how they’ve been updated to accommodate. But we don’t have long to find out. Tomorrow will be the CoD Next broadcast, and plenty are already redeeming their MW3 beta codes in anticipation.
MW3 meanwhile, launches this November. For more on the game, check out our guides to does MW3 beta support crossplay? and our Modern Warfare 3 (2023) carry forward guide – what can I bring over from MW2?
